{"id":30255,"date":"2025-12-10T11:11:24","date_gmt":"2025-12-10T05:41:24","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=30255"},"modified":"2025-12-10T15:26:35","modified_gmt":"2025-12-10T09:56:35","slug":"international-organization-of-aids-to-marine-navigation","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/international-organization-of-aids-to-marine-navigation\/","title":{"rendered":"International Organization of Aids to Marine Navigation"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><b>International Organization for Marine Aids to Navigation Latest News<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Recently, the Union Minister for Ports, Shipping and Waterways virtually inaugurated the 3rd Session of the Council of the International Organization for Marine Aids to Navigation (IALA) held in Mumbai.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>About International Organization for Marine Aids to Navigation<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It was <\/span><b>established in 1957<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> as a <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/non-governmental-organizations\/\" target=\"_blank\">Non-Governmental Organisation<\/a> <\/strong>(NGO).<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It officially changed its status from a Non-governmental Organization (NGO) to an <\/span><b>Intergovernmental Organization<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (IGO) based on a <\/span><b>Convention ratified by 34 States in 2024.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Its mandate is to <\/span><b>harmonise global maritime navigation systems<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, promote maritime safety initiatives, and collaborate with member states, international organizations, and industry stakeholders to address emerging challenges in maritime safety and environmental protection.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Motto:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Successful Voyages, Sustainable Planet.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Governance:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> The <\/span><b>IALA Council<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> is the <\/span><b>key decision-making body<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> of the intergovernmental organization responsible for marine aids to navigation.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It aims to<\/span>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><b>Foster safe, economic and efficient movement<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> of vessels by improving and harmonizing aids to navigation worldwide and by other appropriate means.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><b>Encourage, support and communicate recent developments<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">; develop international cooperation by promoting close working relationships and assistance among members;<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><b>Enhance mutual exchange of information<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> with organizations representing users of aids to navigation.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Members:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0 It <\/span><b>comprises 200 members<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, 80 of which are national authorities and 60 are commercial firms.
