{"id":30513,"date":"2025-10-27T10:00:16","date_gmt":"2025-10-27T04:30:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=30513"},"modified":"2025-10-27T12:37:40","modified_gmt":"2025-10-27T07:07:40","slug":"mishti-scheme","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/mishti-scheme\/","title":{"rendered":"MISHTI Scheme"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><b>MISHTI Scheme Latest News<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Union government has taken up about 22,560 hectares of land to restore and conserve mangroves under the Mangrove Initiative for Shoreline Habitats &amp; Tangible Incomes (MISHTI) initiative over the past two years.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>About MISHTI Scheme<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The <\/span><b>Mangrove Initiative for Shoreline Habitats &amp; Tangible Incomes<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (MISHTI) scheme is a government-led initiative aimed at increasing the mangrove cover <\/span><b>along the coastline and on salt pan lands.\u00a0<\/b>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It was launched after India joined the <\/span><b>\u2018Mangrove Alliance for Climate\u2019<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> launched during the 27th Conference of Parties (COP27) to the UNFCCC held in November 2022.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It was <\/span><b>launched by the Ministry of Environment, Forest &amp; Climate Change<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> in <\/span><b>2023.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Objective:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> To <\/span><b>restore mangrove forests<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> by undertaking mangrove reforestation\/afforestation measures along the coast of India, states Government of India.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><b>Features of MISHTI Scheme<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is primarily focused on the <\/span><b>Sundarbans delta, Hooghly Estuary in West Bengal<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and other bay parts of the country, but also includes other wetlands in the country.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Financial assistance:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Under this scheme the government is providing <\/span><b>financial assistance to local communities<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> to undertake mangrove plantation activities.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It leverages the strengths and provisions of different government schemes and initiatives such as the <\/span><b>Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (MGNREGS), the <\/span><b>Compensatory Afforestation Fund Management and Planning Authority<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (CAMPA) Fund and other relevant sources.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The plantation activities are carried out in a <\/span><b>participatory manner<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, involving local <\/span><b>communities and NGOs, to<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> ensure sustainability and community ownership of the initiative.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Source: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thehindu.com\/news\/national\/over-22500-hectares-of-land-taken-up-for-mangrove-restoration-under-mishti-scheme-85-of-area-in-gujarat\/article70205560.ece\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">TH<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>MISHTI Scheme is a government-led initiative aimed at increasing the mangrove cover along the coastline and on salt pan lands.
