{"id":30784,"date":"2023-08-21T03:57:39","date_gmt":"2023-08-20T22:27:39","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=30784"},"modified":"2025-04-15T23:52:33","modified_gmt":"2025-04-15T18:22:33","slug":"north-east-special-infrastructure-development-scheme-nesids","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/north-east-special-infrastructure-development-scheme-nesids\/","title":{"rendered":"North East Special Infrastructure Development Scheme (NESIDS)"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><strong>About<\/strong> <strong>North East Special Infrastructure Development Scheme (NESIDS):<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>It has been approved by the Government of India as a <strong>new Central Sector Scheme<\/strong> in 2017.<\/li>\n<li>Under the scheme guidelines of NESIDS, 100% centrally funding is provided to the State Governments of North Eastern Region.<\/li>\n<li>The funding is provided for the projects of <strong>physical infrastructure <\/strong>relating to water supply, power and connectivity enhancing tourism and Social infrastructure relating to primary and secondary sectors of education and health.<\/li>\n<li><strong>New guidelines<\/strong>\u00a0\n<ul>\n<li>For the period from 2022-23 to 2025-26 Cabinet approved two components viz. <strong>NESIDS-Road and NESIDS-Other Than Road Infrastructure<\/strong> (OTRI).\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>The scheme is a central sector scheme with 100% central funding.<\/li>\n<li>The decisions of the Government including merger of the erstwhile North East Road Sector Development Scheme (NERSDS) into NESIDS-Road component etc. necessitated formulation of fresh guidelines to administer and implement the restructured NESIDS during the balance period of the 15th Finance Commission.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Objective of these schemes<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>To supplement the efforts of the different Central Ministries &amp; Departments for uncovered development\/welfare activities.<\/li>\n<li>These schemes help in gap-filling support to the eight North Eastern States as per their felt needs, by taking up projects<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p>Q1) What is Social infrastructure?<\/p>\n<p>Social infrastructure refers to the fundamental facilities, systems, and structures that support the well-being, development, and quality of life of a society or community.
