Innovation in Pharma-MedTech Sector (PRIP) Scheme"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><b>PRIP (Promotion of Research and Innovation in Pharma MedTech Sector) Scheme Latest News<\/b><\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The government recently invited applications for research and innovation projects under its Promotion of Research and Innovation in Pharma-MedTech Sector scheme to make it a globally competitive and innovation-driven sector.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>About PRIP Scheme<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The PRIP scheme was launched by the <\/span><b>Department of Pharmaceuticals, Ministry of Chemicals &amp; Fertilizers<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, to transform India into a global powerhouse for R&amp;D in the Pharma MedTech sector.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The scheme was notified on August 17, <\/span><b>2023 <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">with total <\/span><b>financial outlay of \u20b95000 crores.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The aim of the scheme is to <\/span><b>promote industry-academia linkage for R&amp;D <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">in priority areas and to inculcate the culture of quality research and nurture our pool of scientists.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It focuses on <\/span><b>two components:<\/b>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Component A:\u00a0<\/b>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Strengthening research infrastructure through <\/span><b>establishment of Centres of Excellence (CoE) in the seven existing National Institutes of Pharmaceutical Education and Research (NIPERs).\u00a0<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">These CoEs would be set up i<\/span><b>n pre identified areas<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> with a <\/span><b>financial outlay of Rs 700 Crores.<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Component B:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0<\/span>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Promoting research in the pharmaceutical sector by <\/span><b>encouraging research <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">in<\/span><b> six priority areas<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> wherein <\/span><b>financial assistance <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">will be provided<\/span><b> for the industries, MSMEs, SMEs, startups working with government institutes, and for both in- house and academic research.\u00a0<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The component has a financial outlay of <\/span><b>Rs.4250 Crores.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Bigger companies can seek funding of up to \u20b9125 crore, <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">while <\/span><b>startups can secure up to \u20b91 crore<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> over a period of five years, based on their milestones.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Priority Areas:\u00a0<\/b>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>New Chemical Entity, New Biological Entity,<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and <\/span><b>Phyto-pharmaceuticals\u00a0<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Complex <\/span><b>generics and Biosimilars<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Precision medicin<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">e (Targeted innovative therapeutics)<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Medical devices<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Orphan Drugs\u00a0<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;
