\u2018Educate Girls\u2019, an Indian organisation that works to educate unprivileged girls across the country.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>About Ramon Magsaysay Award<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is <\/span><b>Asia\u2019s premier prize and highest honor<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, celebrates greatness of <\/span><b>spirit and transformative leadership in Asia.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Awardees, annually selected by the <\/span><b>RMAF board of trustees,<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> are presented with a certificate and a medallion with an embossed image of Ramon Magsaysay facing right in profile.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">From 1958 to 2008, the Award was given in <\/span><b>six categories annually:<\/b>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><b>Government Service<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">: To recognize outstanding service in the public interest in any branch of government, including the executive, judicial, legislative, or military;<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><b>Public Service:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> To recognize outstanding service for the public good by a private citizen;<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><b>Community Leadership:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> To recognize leadership of a community toward <\/span><b>helping the disadvantaged<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> have fuller opportunities and a better life;<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><b>Journalism, Literature, and Creative Communication Arts:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> To recognize <\/span><b>effective writing<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, <\/span><b>publishing, or photography<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> or the use of radio, television, cinema, or the performing arts as a power for the public good;<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><b>Peace and International Understanding:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> To recognize <\/span><b>contributions to the advancement of friendship<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, tolerance, peace, and solidarity as the foundations for sustainable development within and across countries.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><b>Emergent Leadership:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> To recognize an <\/span><b>individual, forty years of age or younger<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, for outstanding <\/span><b>work on issues of social change<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> in his or her community, but whose leadership may not yet be broadly recognized outside of this community.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The category of <\/span><b>Emergent Leadership was inaugurated in 2000<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and is supported by a grant from the Ford Foundation.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Starting in 2009, the Ramon Magsaysay Award is no longer being given in fixed Award categories, except for Emergent Leadership.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The winners are presented with a <\/span><b>certificate and a medallion<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> with an embossed image of Ramon Magsaysay.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is <\/span><b>presented in formal ceremonies in Manila<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, Philippines on August 31st, the birth anniversary of the much-esteemed Philippine President whose ideals inspired the Award\u2019s creation in
