{"id":31078,"date":"2025-11-09T02:52:25","date_gmt":"2025-11-08T21:22:25","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=31078"},"modified":"2025-11-10T12:15:19","modified_gmt":"2025-11-10T06:45:19","slug":"ncert","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/ncert\/","title":{"rendered":"National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT)"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><strong>About National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT)<\/strong><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>It is an\u00a0<strong>autonomous organisation set up in 1961<\/strong> by the Government of India\u00a0<strong>to assist and advise the Central and State Governments on policies<\/strong> and programmes\u00a0<strong>for qualitative improvement in school education.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>The\u00a0<strong>major objectives of NCERT<\/strong> and its constituent units are to:\n<ul>\n<li>Undertake, aid,\u00a0<strong>promote and coordinate research in areas related to school education;<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Prepare and publish model textbooks<\/strong>, supplementary\u00a0<strong>material, newsletters,\u00a0<\/strong>journals and other related literature;<\/li>\n<li>Organise pre-service and in-service\u00a0<strong>training of teachers;<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Develop\u00a0<\/strong>and disseminate\u00a0<strong>innovative educational techniqu<\/strong>es and practices;<\/li>\n<li><strong>Collaborate and network with state educational department<\/strong>s, universities,\u00a0<strong>NGOs<\/strong> and other educational institutions;<\/li>\n<li><strong>Act as a clearing house for ideas<\/strong> and information in matters\u00a0<strong>related to school education;<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Act as a\u00a0<strong>nodal agency for achieving the goals of universalization of elementary education.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>NCERT is an i<strong>mplementation agency for bilateral cultural exchange programmes\u00a0<\/strong>with other countries\u00a0<strong>in the field of school education.\u00a0<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>The NCERT\u00a0<strong>also interacts and works in collaboration with international organisations<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>visiting foreign delegations<\/strong> and\u00a0<strong>offering various training facilities to\u00a0<\/strong>educational\u00a0<strong>personnel from developing countries.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>As per the National Education Policy 2020, NCERT is the\u00a0<strong>nodal agency to develop National Curriculum Frameworks (NCFs)\u00a0<\/strong>for (a) Early Childhood Care and Education (ECCE), (b) School Education, and (c) Adult Education.<\/li>\n<li>The council\u00a0<strong>headquarters is located at Sri Aurobindo Marg, New Delhi.\u00a0<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Organizational Structure:<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>The\u00a0<strong>Union Minister of Education<\/strong> is the\u00a0<strong>President (ex-officio) of the General Body of NCERT.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>The members\u00a0<\/strong>of the General Body\u00a0<strong>include Education Ministers of all States and Union Territories.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>The\u00a0<strong>Secretary, NCERT is the Convenor of the General Body\u00a0<\/strong>of the NCERT.<\/li>\n<li>The\u00a0<strong>Executive Committee is the main governing body of NCERT<\/strong>. The\u00a0<strong>Union Minister of Education is its President\u00a0<\/strong>(ex-officio) and the Union Minister of State in the Ministry of Education is the ex-officio\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/upsc-exam\/vice-president-of-india\/\" target=\"_blank\"><u>Vice-President<\/u><\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>The\u00a0<strong>Executive Committee is assisted<\/strong> in its work\u00a0<strong>by the various Standing Committees\/Boards.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>The functions of the Council<\/strong> are l<strong>ooked after by the Director, Joint Director and Secretary.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h3>Q1) What is the National Education Policy 2020?<\/h3>\n<p>The\u00a0National Education Policy, approved by the Union Cabinet in July 2020, outlines the vision of India\u2019s new education system. NEP 2020 focuses on five pillars: Affordability, Accessibility, Quality, Equity, and Accountability \u2013 to ensure continual learning.
