{"id":31094,"date":"2025-01-16T06:27:53","date_gmt":"2025-01-16T00:57:53","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=31094"},"modified":"2025-04-16T09:05:32","modified_gmt":"2025-04-16T03:35:32","slug":"kokborok-language","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/kokborok-language\/","title":{"rendered":"Kokborok Language"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><strong>About Kokborok Language:<\/strong><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Kokborok is a <strong>language of the Borok people<\/strong>, geographically known as <strong>Tripuris<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>It is one of the State\u2019s <strong>official languages of Tripura,<\/strong> notified on January 19, 1979.<\/li>\n<li>It is a <strong>Sino-Tibetan language<\/strong> and can be traced back to at least the 1st century AD when the historical record of Tripuri kings started to be written down in a book called the Raj Ratnakar.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>So far, the term Kokborok is known to first occur as \u2018Kok-boro\u2019 in 1897\/98 in an early primer on the language, Daulat Ahmed \u2018Kokboroma.<\/li>\n<li>In 1900, Thakur Radhamohan Debbarma spelt \u2018Kokborok\u2019 in a published grammar of the language.<\/li>\n<li>At the time, various <strong>British Political Agents<\/strong>, District <strong>Officers<\/strong>, Sub- Division Officers were known as linguists \u2013 they <strong>called this language Tipperh, Tipura, or Tipra Language<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>The word Kokborok is derived from the word \u2018Kok\u2019, meaning \u2018verbal\u2019, and \u2018Borok\u2019, meaning \u2018people\u2019 or \u2018human\u2019.<\/li>\n<li>According to the 2011 Census report, the number of <strong>Kokborok-speaking people<\/strong> is 8,80,537, which is <strong>23.97% of the total population of Tripura.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<h3><strong>Q1<\/strong>: What is the Roman script?<\/h3>\n<p>Roman script, also known as the Latin script, is the writing system originally developed by the ancient Romans.
