Swaminathan<\/strong>, Chairman, M.S Swaminathan Research Foundation, Chennai.<\/li>\n<li>It is a\u00a0<strong>biennial award constituted by<\/strong>\u00a0<strong>the Retired Indian Council of Agricultural Research Employees Association (RICAREA) and Nuziveedu Seeds Limited (NSL).<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>The award\u00a0<strong>carries a Cash prize of Rs.2 lakhs\u00a0<\/strong>(Rupees Two Lakhs only),\u00a0<strong>a Medal, and a Citation.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>The award is open to all, irrespective of his\/her nationality.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3>Who was M S Swaminathan?<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Dr. Mankombu Sambasivan Swaminathan, often referred to as Dr. M.S. Swaminathan, i<strong>s a renowned Indian agricultural scientist and geneticist.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Green Revolution in India:<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>He is often referred to as the\u00a0<strong>&#8220;Father of the Green Revolution in India.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>His research and work in crop breeding, particularly for wheat and rice, l<strong>ed to the development of high-yielding varieties that significantly increased agricultural productivity<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>This Green Revolution\u00a0<strong>helped India overcome food shortages\u00a0<\/strong>and played a crucial role in the country&#8217;s agricultural transformation.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>In recognition of his outstanding contributions, he was\u00a0<strong>awarded the first World Food Prize, the Ramon Magsaysay Award<\/strong> and many other national and international honors.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h3>Q1) What is the Green Revolution?<\/h3>\n<p>The Green Revolution refers to a series of agricultural advancements and innovations that took place in the mid-20th century, primarily between the 1940s and the 1970s.
