{"id":31645,"date":"2025-04-01T11:38:08","date_gmt":"2025-04-01T06:08:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=31645"},"modified":"2025-04-16T13:37:44","modified_gmt":"2025-04-16T08:07:44","slug":"tribhuvandas-patel","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/tribhuvandas-patel\/","title":{"rendered":"Tribhuvandas Patel"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>Tribhuvandas Patel Latest News<\/h2>\n<p>The Lok Sabha recently passed a bill to set up the Tribhuvan Sahkari University in Anand, Gujarat, that is named after Tribhuvandas Patel, who was one of the pioneers of the cooperative movement in India and instrumental in laying the foundation of Amul.<\/p>\n<h2>About Tribhuvandas Patel<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Tribhuvandas Kishibhai Patel is an Indian <strong>independence activist, lawyer, and politician<\/strong>.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>A <strong>follower of Mahatma Gandhi,<\/strong> he is regarded as the <strong>father of the cooperative movement <\/strong>in India, most notably in the <strong>Kaira District Co-operative Milk Producers&#8217; Union<\/strong> in 1946, and the <strong>Anand Co-operative movement.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>He was <strong>born <\/strong>in 1903 to a farming family <strong>in Gujarat.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>He was very much influenced by the philosophy and principles of Mahatma Gandhi.<\/li>\n<li>He was totally <strong>involved in the various movements of Mahatma Gandhi,<\/strong> like <strong>civil disobedience,<\/strong> rural development, and the drive a<strong>gainst untouchability, alcoholism,<\/strong> etc.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>He was the<strong> President of Harijan Sevak Samiti<\/strong> from 1948 to 1983.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>In Nasik in 1930, he was <strong>jailed for <\/strong>the first time for the <strong>salt satyagraha.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>He was further imprisoned in Visapur in 1930 where he took an oath to dedicate his life for the benefit of the masses at large.<\/li>\n<li>In 1946, <strong>guided by <\/strong>the wisdom of <strong>Morarji Desai and inspired by Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel,<\/strong> Tribhuvandas <strong>formed the Kaira District Cooperative Milk Producers\u2019 Union Ltd. <\/strong>(KDCMPUL) as a <strong>protest against <\/strong>the <strong>exploitation of local farmers by Polson Dairy.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>The basic approach adopted by Shri Tribhuvandas Patel was first to establish milk cooperatives in the villages. These co-operatives were literally the \u201cbase\u201d of the entire venture.<\/li>\n<li>He <strong>insisted that each village co-operative should be open to all milk producers<\/strong> in the village regardless of caste, creed, or community.<\/li>\n<li>He <strong>invited Dr. Verghese Kurien<\/strong> to KDCMPUL, who later spearheaded the <strong>White Revolution i<\/strong>n India.<\/li>\n<li>He was <strong>instrumental in establishing<\/strong> the <strong>Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation <\/strong>(GCMMF), <strong>National Dairy Development Board<\/strong> (NDDB), and Institute of Rural Management Anand (IRMA).<\/li>\n<li>During his lifetime he held various positions and <strong>received innumerable recognition<\/strong>s and awards for his outstanding leadership and social service.
