belongs to the subspecies <strong>Panthera leo persica<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>It is found exclusively in <strong>India<\/strong>, specifically in the <strong>Gir National Park and Wildlife Sanctuary<\/strong> in Gujarat.<\/li>\n<li>Once widespread across <strong>West Asia<\/strong> and the <strong>Middle East<\/strong>, the Asiatic lion has now become <strong>extinct<\/strong> in these regions, with India being the last refuge of this species.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Current distribution: <\/strong>The <strong>latest lion census (2020)<\/strong> by the <strong>Gujarat Forest
