technology.\u00a0<\/p>\n<h2>About Ironwood TPU<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>It is <strong>Google\u2019s seventh-generation Tensor Processing Unit (TPU).<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>TPUs are custom-built chipsets<\/strong> aimed at <strong>AI and machine learning (ML) workflows.\u00a0<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>These accelerators <strong>offer extremely high parallel processing,<\/strong> especially <strong>for deep learning-related tasks<\/strong>, as well as significantly high power efficiency.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Designed specifically for inference <\/strong>\u2014 a process where AI models make predictions based on learned data \u2014 <strong>Ironwood is the most powerful, scalable, and energy-efficient TPU Google has ever developed.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Ironwood signifies a <strong>shift from reactive AI models<\/strong>, which respond to queries, <strong>to proactive systems<\/strong> that <strong>generate insights independently.\u00a0<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>This evolution defines what Google calls the \u201cage of inference,\u201d where <strong>AI agents autonomously retrieve and synthesise data<\/strong> to offer comprehensive answers, not just raw information.<\/li>\n<li>The Ironwood chip comes with a peak compute of 4,614 teraflops (TFLOP), which is a considerably higher throughput compared to its <strong>predecessor, Trillium.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Google also plans to make these chipsets<strong> available as clusters<\/strong> to maximise the processing power <strong>for higher-end AI workflows.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Ironwood can be scaled up to a <strong>cluster <\/strong>of 9,216 liquid-cooled chips <strong>linked with an Inter-Chip Interconnect (ICI) network.\u00a0<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>At its most expansive cluster, Ironwood chipsets can generate up to 42.5 exaflops of computing power<strong>.\u00a0<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Google claimed that <strong>its throughput is <\/strong>more than <strong>24X of the compute generated by<\/strong> the <strong>world&#8217;s largest supercomputer, El Capitan,<\/strong> which offers 1.7 Exaflops per pod.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Ironwood TPUs also come with expanded memory, with each chipset offering 192GB, which is six times more than its predecessor,
