<strong>Marburg hemorrhagic fever<\/strong>, is a rare but <strong>severe hemorrhagic <\/strong>fever that <strong>affects both people and non-human primates.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Causative agent:<\/strong> MVD is caused by the <strong>Marburg virus<\/strong>, a genetically unique <strong>zoonotic (animal-borne) RNA virus<\/strong>. <strong>Marburg and Ebola viruses<\/strong> are both members of the Filoviridae family (filovirus).<\/li>\n<li>Marburg virus was <strong>first recognized in 1967<\/strong>, when outbreaks of hemorrhagic fever occurred simultaneously in laboratories in Marburg and Frankfurt, <strong>Germany<\/strong> and in Belgrade, <strong>Yugoslavia (now Serbia).<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>The <strong>reservoir host<\/strong> of the Marburg virus is the <strong>African fruit bat, <\/strong><i><strong>Rousettus aegyptiacus<\/strong><\/i><strong>.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Transmission<\/strong>: The Marburg virus is transmitted to people <strong>from fruit bats<\/strong> and <strong>spreads among humans<\/strong> <strong>through human-to-human transmission.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Fatality<\/strong>: The average MVD case <strong>fatality rate is around 50%.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Treatment<\/strong>:\n<ul>\n<li>There is <strong>no specific treatment<\/strong> for Marburg virus disease.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li><strong>Supportive therapy,<\/strong> such as intravenous fluids, electrolyte replacement, supplemental oxygen, as well as blood and blood products replacement, <strong>improves survival.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3>What are Viral hemorrhagic fevers (VHFs)?<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>VHFs are a group of diseases that are <strong>caused by several distinct families of viruses.<\/strong>\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>The term \u201cviral hemorrhagic fever\u201d refers to a <strong>condition that affects many organ systems of the body,<\/strong> <strong>damages the overall cardiovascular system<\/strong>, and reduces the body\u2019s ability to function on its own.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Some VHFs cause mild illnesses<\/strong>, while others can cause severe, <strong>life-threatening diseases.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Most VHFs have no known cure<\/strong> or vaccine.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h3><strong>Q1)\u00a0What is the primary objective of ICHR?<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>The primary objective of the Council is to promote and give direction to historical research and to encourage and foster objective and scientific
