PARAKH.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>About PARAKH:<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>The benchmark assessment framework &#8211; PARAKH &#8211; functions as <strong>a standard-setting body<\/strong> for student assessment and evaluation for all school boards in the country and to put an end to the emphasis on rote learning.<\/li>\n<li>While the NCERT is an autonomous organisation under the Ministry of Education, the regulator &#8211; PARAKH &#8211; will act as<strong> a constituent unit of the NCERT <\/strong>and will be tasked with &#8211;\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Setting norms, standards and guidelines<\/strong> for student assessment and evaluation.<\/li>\n<li>Holding <strong>periodic learning outcome tests<\/strong> like the National Achievement Survey (NAS), etc.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Managing India&#8217;s participation in international assessments <\/strong>such as the Program for International Student Assessment (PISA), etc.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>It will consist of leading assessment experts and will eventually become the<strong> national single-window source<\/strong> for all assessment-related information and expertise.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Significance:<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Uniformity:<\/strong>\u00a0 To bring \u201cequivalence\u201d in assessment.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Standardisation:<\/strong> It will establish and implement technical standards for test design, administration, analysis and reporting at all levels of schooling.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Skill development:<\/strong> It will encourage and help school boards to shift their assessment patterns towards meeting the skill requirements of the 21st century.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/lh6.googleusercontent.com\/1NNfPGSjee3y1e0_FlY3v3_WClK17XWhPsiNngBUpIV2r6ZnSzyDJVtsQRZSjgCPg1GMyubvKleNtVL8kKnBHk-sibvLma9mCsn8xTGK2XRypOwyWxtFTnKecV5zeQgWymepE0JkWIOn6uzZlkfOiuI\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Image Caption: PARAKH \u2013 The New Regulator<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<h2><strong>News Summary Regarding Cadre at the State Level:<\/strong><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Just like the NCERT at the national level, the <strong>SCERTs<\/strong>, which come under the state governments, <strong>are engaged in developing curriculum, manuals<\/strong> for teachers and evaluation and assessment at the school education level.<\/li>\n<li>The plan is to have<strong> a dedicated cadre in every state<\/strong> for setting question papers and developing the standard rubric for marking.<\/li>\n<li>The rubric will define <strong>which types of answers merit a certain score<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li><strong>The cadre will be trained<\/strong> for this purpose of developing higher order thinking skills questions as opposed to the current model where teachers with some years of experience are thought to be ready to set question papers.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h3><strong>Q1) What is the National Achievement Survey (NAS)?<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>NAS is a nationally representative large-scale survey of students&#8217;
