{"id":34492,"date":"2022-11-04T05:39:17","date_gmt":"2022-11-04T00:09:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=34492"},"modified":"2025-04-20T14:20:15","modified_gmt":"2025-04-20T08:50:15","slug":"schools-retaining-more-kids-enrolment-up-by-19l-report","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/schools-retaining-more-kids-enrolment-up-by-19l-report\/","title":{"rendered":"Schools Retaining More Kids, Enrolment up by 19L: Report"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3><strong>What\u2019s in today\u2019s article:<\/strong><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>About UDISE and UDISE+<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>News Summary<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Why in news?<\/strong><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>According to the recent Unified District Information System for Education Plus (UDISE+) data released by the Ministry of Education for the academic year 2021-22, India&#8217;s school system has been able to retain more students over time.<\/li>\n<li>Total enrollment in 2021-22 was slightly more than 25.57 crore, an increase of more than 19 lakh over 2020-21, with more than 8 lakh girl students.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2><strong>The Unified District Information System for Education (UDISE):<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><strong>About UDISE:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Initiated in 2012-13 by the Department of School Education and Literacy, Ministry of Education, UDISE is one of the largest\u00a0Management Information Systems\u00a0on School Education.<\/li>\n<li>It integrates the District Information System for Education for elementary and secondary education<strong>.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>It covers more than 1.5 million schools, more than 9.6 million teachers and more than 264 million children.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>About UDISE+:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>It is an updated and improved version of UDISE, developed in the year 2018-19<strong>,<\/strong>\u00a0with online data collection from the schools,\u00a0to overcome the issues related to manual data filling<strong>.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Inclusion of name of a school in any of the lists in the UDISE+ does not confer the status of recognition to the school by the Ministry of Education, Government of India.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Significance:<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>Well-functioning and Sustainable Educational Management Information System is of utmost importance today, as the timely and accurate data is the basis of\u00a0<strong>sound and effective planning and decision-making.<\/strong>\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2><strong>News Summary &#8211; Highlights of the UDISE+ data for the academic year 2021-22:<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.s3.us-east-1.amazonaws.com\/media\/editor_images\/2022\/11\/4\/13\/25\/59\/6364c58f204a6105bc4868d2_OI.PNG\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Total number of schools<\/strong>:\u00a0In 2021-22, it stood at 14. 9 lakhs as compared to 15 lakhs in 2020-21.
