{"id":34724,"date":"2022-11-21T03:18:06","date_gmt":"2022-11-20T21:48:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=34724"},"modified":"2025-04-20T16:39:18","modified_gmt":"2025-04-20T11:09:18","slug":"defence-minister-rajnath-singh-to-attend-india-asean-meet-on-nov-22-23","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/defence-minister-rajnath-singh-to-attend-india-asean-meet-on-nov-22-23\/","title":{"rendered":"Defence Minister Rajnath Singh to Attend India-ASEAN Meet on Nov 22-23"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3><strong>What\u2019s in today\u2019s article?<\/strong><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>ASEAN Defense Ministers plus Meeting (ADMM) \u2013 About, ADMM-Plus<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>News Summary<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Why In News?<\/strong><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Defence Minister Rajnath Singh will be attending the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Defense Ministers\u00a0<strong>plus<\/strong>\u00a0Meeting (ADMM plus) and the India-ASEAN defence ministers meeting at Siem Reap, Cambodia.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2><strong>ASEAN Defense Ministers Meeting (ADMM)<\/strong><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>It is the highest defence consultative and cooperative mechanism in ASEAN.<\/li>\n<li>It was established in 2006 and includes the 10 members of ASEAN.<\/li>\n<li>It aims to promote mutual trust and confidence through greater understanding of defence and security challenges as well as enhancement of transparency and openness.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2><strong>ADMM-Plus<\/strong><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>The ADMM-Plus is a platform for ASEAN and its\u00a0<u>eight Dialogue Partners<\/u>.<\/li>\n<li>Dialogue Partners are &#8211; Australia, China, India, Japan, New Zealand, Republic of Korea, Russian Federation and United States.<\/li>\n<li>The aim of ADMM-Plus is to strengthen security and defence cooperation for peace, stability, and development in the region.<\/li>\n<li>It currently focuses on seven areas of practical cooperation, namely:\n<ul>\n<li>Maritime security,<\/li>\n<li>Counter-terrorism,<\/li>\n<li>Humanitarian assistance and disaster management,<\/li>\n<li>Peacekeeping operations,<\/li>\n<li>Military medicine,<\/li>\n<li>Humanitarian mine action, and<\/li>\n<li>Cyber security.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>The Inaugural ADMM-Plus was convened in Ha Noi, Vietnam, in October 2010.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2><strong>News Summary<\/strong><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>The 9<sup>th<\/sup>\u00a0ASEAN defence ministers-plus (ADMM Plus) meeting will be held at Siem Reap, Cambodia.
