{"id":35320,"date":"2023-05-11T03:05:34","date_gmt":"2023-05-10T21:35:34","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=35320"},"modified":"2025-04-20T23:45:27","modified_gmt":"2025-04-20T18:15:27","slug":"poshan-bhi-padhai-bhi-anganwadi-scheme-for-early-childhood-care-education-launched","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/poshan-bhi-padhai-bhi-anganwadi-scheme-for-early-childhood-care-education-launched\/","title":{"rendered":"Poshan Bhi, Padhai Bhi: Anganwadi Scheme for Early Childhood Care, Education Launched"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3><strong>What\u2019s in today\u2019s article?<\/strong><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Why in News?<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Anganwadi Ecosystem in India<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Mission Saksham Anganwadi and Poshan 2.0<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>What is the Poshan Bhi Padhai Bhi Programme?<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Why in News?<\/strong><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>The Union Ministry of Women and Child Development (MoWCD) recently launched the Centre\u2019s flagship programme \u2018Poshan Bhi, Padhai Bhi\u2019, which will focus on <strong>Early Childhood Care and Education (ECCE)<\/strong> at anganwadis across the country.<\/li>\n<li>ECCE is an important component of <strong>Mission Saksham Anganwadi and Poshan 2.0 <\/strong>(Mission Poshan 2.0) and envisaged under the <strong>National Education Policy 2020.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Anganwadi Ecosystem in India:<\/strong><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Considering global evidence that <strong>85% of brain development is achieved by the age of 6 years<\/strong>, the Anganwadi eco-system becomes a critical access point for building the children\u2019s base.<\/li>\n<li>Close to <strong>13.9 lakh<\/strong> operational Anganwadi centres across the country are providing <strong>supplementary nutrition and early care and education<\/strong> to around 8 crore beneficiary children (under the age of 6 years).\n<ul>\n<li>This makes it the largest public provisioning of such services in the world.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>MoWCD has allocated <strong>Rs 600 crore<\/strong> <strong>for the training<\/strong> of anganwadi workers to implement the ECCE.\n<ul>\n<li>The National Institute of Public Cooperation and Child Development (<strong>NIPCCD<\/strong>) has been roped in for the training of Anganwadi workers.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Mission Saksham Anganwadi and Poshan 2.0:<\/strong><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>It is an <strong>Integrated Nutrition Support Programme <\/strong>approved for implementation during the 15th Finance Commission period <strong>2021-22 to 2025-26<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>It seeks to <strong>address the challenges of malnutrition<\/strong> in children, adolescent girls, pregnant women and lactating mothers through &#8211;\n<ul>\n<li>A strategic shift in nutrition content and delivery and<\/li>\n<li>Creation of a<strong> convergent eco-system<\/strong> to develop and promote practices that nurture health, wellness and immunity.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>The existing components (of the on-going nutrition programme) have been re-organised (to improve implementation) under Poshan 2.0 into the primary verticals given below:\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Nutrition Support through Supplementary Nutrition Programme<\/strong> (SNP) for children (06 months to 6 years), pregnant women and lactating mothers (PWLM); and for Adolescent Girls (14 to 18 years) in Aspirational Districts and North Eastern Region (NER);<\/li>\n<li>ECCE [3-6 years] and early stimulation for (0-3 years);<\/li>\n<li>Anganwadi Infrastructure including modern, upgraded Saksham Anganwadi; and<\/li>\n<li><strong>Poshan Abhiyaan: <\/strong>Launched in 2018, its focus is to lay emphasis on nutritional status of adolescent girls, pregnant women, lactating mothers and children from 0-6 years age.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2><strong>What is the Poshan Bhi Padhai Bhi Programme?<\/strong><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>It is a pathbreaking ECCE program<strong> to ensure that India has the world\u2019s largest, universal, high-quality pre-school network<\/strong>, as suggested by the NEP 2020.<\/li>\n<li>The aim is not only to make anganwadi centres <strong>nutrition hubs<\/strong> but also <strong>education-imparting centres &#8211; <\/strong>providing at least two hours of high-quality preschool instruction on a daily basis.<\/li>\n<li>Under this, the government will target children\u2019s development in every domain mentioned in the <strong>National Curriculum Framework<\/strong>, viz., physical and motor development, cognitive development, socio-emotional-ethical development, etc.<\/li>\n<li>It will also ensure the <strong>use of developmentally appropriate pedagogies <\/strong>and emphasising the links with primary education as well as early childhood health and nutrition services.<\/li>\n<li>It will help build a <strong>Jan Andolan<\/strong>, to involve communities in strengthening the foundations of the country\u2019s future generations.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h3><strong>Q1) What is POSHAN Abhiyaan (Prime Minister\u2019s Overarching Scheme for Holistic Nutrition)?<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Principal goal of the POSHAN Abhiyaan is to improve nutritional status of children (0-6 years), adolescent girls, pregnant women and lactating mothers. It is a three-year programme to ensure a holistic approach, covering all 36 states and UTs.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<h3><strong>Q2) What are National Curriculum Frameworks (NCFs)?<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>The National Education Policy 2020 aims to devise four NCFs, for which a comprehensive strategy has been worked out jointly by the Ministry of Education and NCERT.
