the most encompassing international accord to date on DRR.<\/li>\n<li>It works hand in hand <strong>with the other 2030 Agenda agreements<\/strong>, including\n<ul>\n<li>The Paris Agreement on Climate Change,<\/li>\n<li>The Addis Ababa Action Agenda on Financing for Development,<\/li>\n<li>The New Urban Agenda, and<\/li>\n<li>The Sustainable Development Goals.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>It recognises that<strong> the State has the primary role<\/strong> to reduce disaster risk but that responsibility should be shared with other stakeholders &#8211; in recovery, rehabilitation and reconstruction.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>\u00a0\u00a0 <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/vajiramandravi-test.s3.us-east-1.amazonaws.com\/media\/content\/ckeditor\/2023\/05\/23\/image-20230523081303-3.png\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2><strong>News Summary Regarding the Sendai Framework Review Meeting:<\/strong><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>About the meeting:<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>Convened by the President of the General Assembly, the High-Level Meeting (HLM) on the Midterm Review of the implementation of the Sendai Framework took place at the <strong>UN Headquarters in New York.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>The HLM provides a platform for Member States and other stakeholders to examine emerging issues since 2015,<strong> identify course corrections and realise the outcomes and goals of the Sendai Framework.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>The Indian delegation emphasised:<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>The issue of DRR<\/strong> is getting the requisite attention in the global policy discourse as both <strong>G20 and G7<\/strong> have accorded priority to this issue.<\/li>\n<li>India accords high importance to the issue and <strong>brought landmark changes in its financing architecture<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>The state and local governments have access to <strong>about $6 billion<\/strong> for disaster risk mitigation over five years (2021-2025).\n<ul>\n<li>This is <strong>in addition to a resource of $23 billion<\/strong> meant for preparedness, response and recovery.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Achievements of India:<\/strong> Loss of lives <strong>from cyclones reduced to less than 2%<\/strong> and is now<strong> developing ambitious mitigation programmes<\/strong> to reduce the risk of losses from other hazards &#8211;
