{"id":3546,"date":"2026-03-07T11:27:20","date_gmt":"2026-03-07T05:57:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=3546"},"modified":"2026-03-07T15:25:31","modified_gmt":"2026-03-07T09:55:31","slug":"swayatt-initiative","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/swayatt-initiative\/","title":{"rendered":"SWAYATT Initiative"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><b>SWAYATT Initiative Latest News<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Recently, the Government e-Marketplace (GeM) celebrated the seven-year journey of its flagship initiative, SWAYATT \u2013 Startups, Women and Youth Advantage through e-Transactions.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>About SWAYATT Initiative<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It was<\/span><b> launched in <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">February 2019.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It was conceptualised with a clear objective of invigorating <\/span><b>participation of women-led enterprises and youth in public procurement.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It democratizes government procurement by enabling startups, <\/span><b>women entrepreneurs, youth, Micro and Small Enterprises (MSEs), Self Help Groups<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (SHGs) and last-mile sellers to directly <\/span><b>participate in the public procurement ecosystem<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> through Government e-Marketplace.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is rooted in GeM\u2019s <\/span><b>foundational pillar of social inclusion.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">SWAYATT focuses on addressing three critical challenges often faced by emerging enterprises\u2014<\/span><b>access to markets, access to finance and access to value addition.<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><b>Key Facts About Government e Marketplace<\/b><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is an <\/span><b>Online Market platform<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> that was set up in 2016.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It facilitates the <\/span><b>procurement of goods and services<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> by government ministries, departments, public sector undertakings (PSU) etc.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It has been envisaged as the <\/span><b>National Procurement Portal of India.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It was developed by the <\/span><b>Directorate General of Supplies and Disposals<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (Ministry of Commerce and Industry) with technical support from the <\/span><b>National e-governance Division<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (Ministry of Electronic and Information Technology).<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">GeM is a <\/span><b>completely paperless, cashless and system-driven e-marketplace<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> that enables procurement of common-use goods and services with minimal human interface.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Source:<\/b> <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pib.gov.in\/PressReleseDetail.aspx?PRID=2236036&amp;reg=3&amp;lang=1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">PIB<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>SWAYATT Initiative was conceptualised with a clear objective of invigorating participation of women-led enterprises and youth in public procurement.
