{"id":3558,"date":"2026-05-09T13:28:34","date_gmt":"2026-05-09T07:58:34","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=3558"},"modified":"2026-05-09T15:15:32","modified_gmt":"2026-05-09T09:45:32","slug":"panna-tiger-reserve","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/panna-tiger-reserve\/","title":{"rendered":"Panna Tiger Reserve"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><b>Panna Tiger Reserve Latest News<\/b><\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A recently rescued two-year-old tiger was found dead in the buffer area of Madhya Pradesh&#8217;s Panna Reserve.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>About Panna Tiger Reserve<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Situated in the<\/span><b> Vindhyan mountain range<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> in the northern part of <\/span><b>Madhya Pradesh,<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> the reserve is spread over the Panna and Chhatarpur districts.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is the<\/span><b> only tiger reserve<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> in the entire <\/span><b>Bundhelkhand region.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It falls in biogeographic zones of the <\/span><b>Deccan Peninsula and the Biotic Province of the Central highlands.<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><b>Panna Tiger Reserve Landscape<\/b><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is characterized by a \u2018<\/span><b>Table Top\u2019 topography.<\/b><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The terrain here consists of <\/span><b>extensive plateaus and gorges.\u00a0<\/b><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Two plateaus run parallel to each other from southwest to northeasterly direction.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>River<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">: Flowing from the south to the north through the reserve is the River <\/span><b>Ken<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The reserve is also dotted with <\/span><b>two-thousand-year-old rock paintings.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The <\/span><b>region surrounding<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> the reserve is home to various indigenous <\/span><b>tribes<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, each with its distinct culture and traditions. The <\/span><b>Baiga and Gond tribes<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> are among the prominent ones.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>Flora<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">:<\/span>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The dominant vegetation type is<\/span><b> dry deciduous forest <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">interspersed with grassland areas.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It forms the <\/span><b>northernmost tip of the natural teak forests <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">and the<\/span><b> easternmost tip of the natural Anogeissus pendula (Kardhai) forests.\u00a0<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The tree species Acacia catachu dominates the dry, steep slopes of the plateaus here.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>Fauna<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">:<\/span>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It supports a sizable population of<\/span><b> Tiger, Sloth Bear, Leopard, and Striped Hyena.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Other prominent carnivores are Jackal, Wolf, Wild Dog, Jungle Cat, and Rusty Spotted Cat.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is also a haven for <\/span><b>birdlife<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.
