{"id":3558,"date":"2025-10-27T13:28:34","date_gmt":"2025-10-27T07:58:34","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=3558"},"modified":"2025-10-29T11:39:41","modified_gmt":"2025-10-29T06:09:41","slug":"panna-tiger-reserve","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/panna-tiger-reserve\/","title":{"rendered":"Panna Tiger Reserve"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><b>Panna Tiger Reserve Latest News<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Vatsala&#8217;, considered to be Asia&#8217;s oldest elephant, died recently at the age of more than 100 years at the Panna Tiger Reserve in Madhya Pradesh.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>About Panna Tiger Reserve<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Location<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">: It is located in the <\/span><b>Vindhyan mountain range<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> in the northern part of <\/span><b>Madhya Pradesh.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Standing over an area of 542 sq.km., it is the only tiger reserve in the entire <\/span><b>Bundhelkhand region.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It falls in <\/span><b>biogeographic zones of the Deccan Peninsula <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">and the <\/span><b>Biotic Province of the Central highlands.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It was declared a Project Tiger Reserve by the Government of India in 1994.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Landscape<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">:<\/span>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is characterized by a \u2018<\/span><b>Table Top\u2019 topography.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It consists of extensive<\/span><b> plateaus and gorges.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Two plateaus run parallel<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> to each other from southwest to northeasterly direction.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>River<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">: The <\/span><b>Ken River<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> flows from south to north through the reserve.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The reserve is also dotted with <\/span><b>two-thousand-year-old rock paintings.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The region surrounding the reserve is home to various indigenous tribes, each with its distinct culture and traditions. The <\/span><b>Baiga and Gond tribes<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> are among the prominent ones.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Flora<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">:<\/span>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The <\/span><b>dominant vegetation<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> type is <\/span><b>dry deciduous forest interspersed with grassland areas.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In the <\/span><b>north, <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">it is s<\/span><b>urrounded by teak forest<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, and in the <\/span><b>east<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, it is <\/span><b>surrounded by Teak-Kardhai mixed forest<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.
