


{"id":3562,"date":"2026-06-29T11:33:55","date_gmt":"2026-06-29T06:03:55","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=3562"},"modified":"2026-06-29T14:42:15","modified_gmt":"2026-06-29T09:12:15","slug":"sariska-tiger-reserve","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/sariska-tiger-reserve\/","title":{"rendered":"Sariska Tiger Reserve"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><b>Sariska Tiger Reserve<\/b><\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Union Minister for Environment, Forest, and Climate Change recently congratulated the people of the country and nature lovers on the completion of 18 years of tiger reintroduction in the Sariska Tiger Reserve.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>About Sariska Tiger Reserve<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is located in the <\/span><b>Alwar district, Rajasthan.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is a part of the<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/aravalli-range\/\" target=\"_blank\"><b> Aravali Range<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and the <\/span><b>Kathiawar-Gir dry deciduous forests ecoregion.\u00a0<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It stretches over an area of 881 sq.km.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It was <\/span><b>once a hunting ground<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> of the <\/span><b>Maharaja of Alwar<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> before being proclaimed a natural reserve in 1955 and a national park in 1979.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It became a Tiger Reserve under<\/span><b> Project Tiger in 1979.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It <\/span><b>lost all its tigers to poaching in 2005.\u00a0<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">However, it holds the distinction of being the <\/span><b>world\u2019s first reserve to successfully relocate tigers in 2008.\u00a0<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is also famous for <\/span><b>old temples, palaces, and lakes <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">such as <\/span><b>Pandu Pol, Bhangarh Fort, Ajabgarh, Pratapgarh, Siliserh Lake, <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">and<\/span><b> Jai Samand Lake.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>Topography<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">: It possesses a rocky landscape, scrub thorn arid forests, grasses, hilly cliffs, and semi-deciduous wood.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>Vegetation<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">: The vegetation corresponds to <\/span><b>Northern Tropical Dry Deciduous Forests<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and <\/span><b>Northern Tropical Thorn Forest.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>Flora<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">:\u00a0<\/span>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The area of this reserve is covered with <\/span><b>dhok trees.<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Other species found include salar, kadaya, gol, ber, Banyan, gugal, bamboo, kair, adusta, etc.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>Fauna<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">:\u00a0<\/span>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A variety of other wild animals, like the <\/span><b>leopard, sambhar, chital, nilgai,<\/b> <b>four-horned antelope<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, wild boar etc are found in the reserve <\/span><b>apart from the tiger.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Peafowl, grey partridge, sand grouse and crested serpent eagle are some of the birds found near the river bodies and the protected areas of the park.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The <\/span><b>largest population of peafowl in India<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> resides in Sariska National Park.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>News<\/b><strong>: <a href=\"https:\/\/newsonair.gov.in\/union-minister-bhupender-yadav-congratulates-on-completion-of-18-years-of-tiger-reintroduction-in-sariska-tiger-reserve\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">NOA<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Sariska Tiger Reserve is a part of the Aravali Range and the Kathiawar-Gir dry deciduous forests ecoregion.
