Partners<\/strong>\u2019.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>\u00a0<\/h2>\n<h2><strong>About Henley Passport Index<\/strong><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Henley Passport Index is a global ranking of countries according to the travel freedom for their citizens.<\/li>\n<li>It started in <strong>2006<\/strong> as <strong>Henley &amp; Partners Visa Restrictions Index (HVRI).<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>It is the ranking of all the world\u2019s passports according to the number of destinations their holders can access without a prior visa.<\/li>\n<li>The index includes <strong>199 different passports and 227 different travel destinations<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>The number of countries that a specific passport can access becomes its visa-free &#8216;score&#8217;.<\/li>\n<li>In collaboration with the <strong>International Air Transport Association (IATA)<\/strong>, and based on official data from their global database, Henley &amp; Partners analyses the visa regulations of all the countries and territories in the world.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>\u00a0<\/h2>\n<h2><strong>Henley Passport Index 2023<\/strong><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>As per the 2023 rankings, Japan has been replaced by <strong>Singapore<\/strong>, which is now officially the most powerful passport in the world.\n<ul>\n<li>Citizens of Singapore can visit 192 travel destinations out of 227 around the world visa-free.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Germany, Italy, and Spain occupy the second place.<\/li>\n<li>Japan, which occupied the top position on the Henley Passport Index for five years, dropped to the third place.<\/li>\n<li>Alongside Japan at the third position are Austria, Finland, France, Luxembourg, South Korea, and Sweden.<\/li>\n<li><strong>India \u2013<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/lh4.googleusercontent.com\/eloIMTCGe-7JBuEhAJ3EqnsBUNivlHD0twEMJHUnXn6Mxg5saXeOt9jWvJP33SrhFdzG8yVN036W_fFng3Vu-2sjMgSsGoouNV-pMeT0GMdqKO1ne315ZOmX9IB565TQ63PCt4aU1PPT\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0<\/strong>Image Caption: India\u2019s Passport ranking over the years<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>India has climbed seven places on Henley Passport Index 2023 to <strong>80<sup>th<\/sup> rank<\/strong> from 87 last year.<\/li>\n<li>Indian citizens can now enjoy visa-free access to 57 destinations.<\/li>\n<li>In 2014, India ranked 76 with 52 countries allowing Indian passport holders visa free access but its performance has not been linear.<\/li>\n<li>It ranked 88 in 2015 (visa free access to 51 countries), 85 in 2016, 87 in 2017, 81 in 2018, 82 in 2019 and 2020, and 81 in 2021.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>\u00a0<\/h2>\n<h2><strong>\u2018Most Open\u2019 Countries<\/strong><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Henley &amp; Partners also conducted an exclusive new research resulting in the <strong>Henley Openness Index<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>This Index measures how many nations does a country allow visa-free access to.<\/li>\n<li>The Top 20 \u2018most open\u2019 countries are all small island nations or African states, except for Cambodia.<\/li>\n<li>There are 12 completely open countries that offer visa-free or visa-on-arrival entry to all 198 passports in the world (not counting their own).<\/li>\n<li>Here, <strong>India was ranked 94 out of a total of 97 ranks for allowing only four countries visa-free access<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>At the bottom of the Index were four countries for scoring zero for not permitting visa-free access for any passport \u2014 namely, <strong>Afghanistan<\/strong>, <strong>North<\/strong> <strong>Korea<\/strong>, <strong>Papua New Guinea<\/strong>, and <strong>Turkmenistan<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2><strong>About International Air Transport Association (IATA)<\/strong><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>IATA is a trade association of the world&#8217;s airlines founded in <strong>1945<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Objective:<\/strong> To support airline activity and helps formulate industry policy and standards.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Headquarters:<\/strong> Montreal, Canada<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h3><strong>Q)\u00a0 What is the purpose of a passport?<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>A passport is a document that is issued by a country&#8217;s government to citizens in order to verify the identity and nationality of an individual for the purpose of international travel.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Q) Citizens of which countries can come to India without visa?<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Bhutan, Maldives, and Nepal citizens are allowed to enter the country for 90 days without presenting a visa.
