The Centre is located at Jamnagar, Gujarat, India.<\/li>\n<li><u>As lead investor in the WHO GCTM, India has committed an estimated US$ 250 million to support the Centre\u2019s establishment, infrastructure and operations<\/u>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>5 Goals of GCTM<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>It aims to create a\u00a0<u>database of traditional knowledge system<\/u>\u00a0using technology.<\/li>\n<li>it will create\u00a0<u>international standards for testing and certification of traditional medicines\u00a0<\/u>so that confidence in these medicines improves.<\/li>\n<li>GCTM should\u00a0<u>evolve as a platform<\/u>\u00a0where global experts of traditional medicines come together and share experiences.<\/li>\n<li>GCTM should\u00a0<u>mobilize funding for research<\/u>\u00a0in the field of traditional medicines.<\/li>\n<li>GCTM should\u00a0<u>develop protocols for holistic treatment of specific diseases\u00a0<\/u>so that patients could benefit from both traditional and modern medicine.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2><strong>News Summary: India, ADB to set up climate change and health hub in Delhi<\/strong><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>India is now all set to open a climate change and health hub in New Delhi.<\/li>\n<li>This centre will be opened in partnership with the ADB.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Significance<\/strong><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Climate change affects all and this centre will give an opportunity to have different partners discussing this important issue and learning from each other.<\/li>\n<li>In its recently released G-20 outcome document, India noted that climate change will continue to drive health emergencies, including the emergence and re-emergence of infectious diseases.\n<ul>\n<li>It will also increase the severity and frequency of natural disasters, thereby threatening health systems\u2019 ability to deliver essential services.<\/li>\n<li>Against this backdrop, there is need to enhance the resilience of health systems against the impact of climate change.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>The outcome document committed to:\n<ul>\n<li>prioritize\u00a0<strong>climate-resilient health systems<\/strong>\u00a0development,<\/li>\n<li>build sustainable and low-carbon\/low greenhouse gas (GHG) emission health systems and healthcare supply chains that deliver high-quality healthcare,<\/li>\n<li>mobilize resources for resilient, low-carbon sustainable health systems, and<\/li>\n<li>facilitate collaboration, including initiatives such as the\u00a0<strong>WHO-led Alliance for Transformative Action on Climate and Health (ATACH)<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>The recently concluded G-20 Health Ministers\u2019 meet also expressed the concern about the rising cases of zoonotic spill overs, and consequently emerging and re-emerging diseases.<\/li>\n<li>In this context, there is need to identify new drivers and address the existing drivers using a science and risk-based approach, and to strengthen existing\u00a0<u>infectious disease surveillance systems.<\/u><\/li>\n<li>The new Climate Change and Health Hub in New Delhi will help countries all over the world to address the above-mentioned issues.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h3><strong>Q1) What is G-20?<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>The G-20, or Group of Twenty, is an international forum consisting of 19 individual countries and the European Union.
