{"id":3739,"date":"2023-03-05T12:59:30","date_gmt":"2023-03-05T07:29:30","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=3739"},"modified":"2025-03-26T19:05:51","modified_gmt":"2025-03-26T13:35:51","slug":"hallmark-unique-identification-huid","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/hallmark-unique-identification-huid\/","title":{"rendered":"Hallmark Unique Identification (HUID)"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><strong>About Hallmark Unique Identification:<\/strong><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>The HUID is a unique <strong>6-digit alphanumeric code<\/strong> consisting of numbers and letters.<\/li>\n<li>The HUID will be given to <strong>every piece of jewellery at the time of hallmarking<\/strong> and it is unique for every piece of jewellery.<\/li>\n<li>This unique number is stamped manually, on jewellery at the Assaying &amp; Hallmarking centres.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Present scenario:<\/strong> Earlier, the HUID used to be 4 digits and now both 4 and 6-digit HUIDs are used in the market.<\/li>\n<li>From April 1st 2023, only 6-digit alphanumeric codes will be allowed.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Symbol: <\/strong>The BIS Hallmark consists of 3 symbols <strong>namely the BIS logo, Purity\/Fineness Grade, and a six-digit alphanumeric code<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>The authenticity of hallmarked jewellery can be checked by using the <strong>&#8216;verify HUID&#8217;<\/strong> feature on <strong>the BIS Care App.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><strong>What is the Bureau of Indian Standards?<\/strong><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), the National Standards Body of India established under the <strong>BIS Act 2016.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Objective:<\/strong> Harmonious development of the activities of standardisation, and quality assurance of goods and articles.<\/li>\n<li>It works under the Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food &amp; Public Distribution.<\/li>\n<li>BIS represents India in International Organization for Standardization (ISO) and International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h3>Q1) What is Hallmarking?<\/h3>\n<p>Hallmarking is the accurate determination and official recording of the proportionate content of precious metal in precious metal articles.
