However, if a person is awarded a prize and dies before receiving it, the prize is presented.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Who selects the Nobel Laureates?<\/strong><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>In his last will and testament, Alfred Nobel specifically designated the institutions responsible for the prizes he wished to be established:\n<ul>\n<li>The Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences for the Nobel Prize in Physics and Chemistry,<\/li>\n<li>Karolinska Institutet for the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine,<\/li>\n<li>Swedish Academy for the Nobel Prize in Literature, and<\/li>\n<li>a committee of five persons to be elected by the Norwegian Parliament for the Nobel Peace Prize.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>The Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences was given the task to select the Laureates in Economic Sciences starting in 1969.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Award Ceremony<\/strong><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Except for the Peace Prize, the <u>Nobel Prizes are presented in Stockholm, Sweden<\/u>, at the annual Prize Award Ceremony on 10 December (the anniversary of Nobel&#8217;s death).<\/li>\n<li>The Peace Prize is presented at the annual Prize Award Ceremony in Oslo, Norway, usually on 10 December.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2><strong>News Summary: Nobel Prize for Literature 2023<\/strong><\/h2>\n<h2><strong>Who is Jon Olav Fosse?<\/strong><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>About<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>Fosse writes in Norwegian Nynorsk, the least common of the two official versions of Norwegian.<\/li>\n<li>Born in 1959, Fosse first started writing novels, switching to plays in his 30s.<\/li>\n<li>He went on to become one of Norway\u2019s most-performed dramatists, and is in fact counted among the most performed of living European dramatists.<\/li>\n<li>His work has been translated into more than 40 languages.<\/li>\n<li>Fosse has written around 40 plays, apart from novels, short stories, children\u2019s books, poetry and essays.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Notable works<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>His \u201cA New Name: Septology VI-VII\u201d was a finalist for the International Booker Prize last year.<\/li>\n<li>Other notable works by Fosse include I Am the Wind, Melancholy, Boathouse, and The Dead Dogs.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Writing styles<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>His writing style is characterised by <u>simple, minimal, searing dialogue<\/u>.<\/li>\n<li>It is considered similar to Samuel Beckett and Harold Pinter, both of whom have won the Nobel earlier.<\/li>\n<li>His themes explore:\n<ul>\n<li>the absurdity, the futility and yet the power of the human condition;<\/li>\n<li>everyday confusions and irresolutions; and<\/li>\n<li>the difficulty to form actual connections, despite \u2014 and sometimes because of \u2014 conversation.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h3><strong>Q1) Who was Alfred Nobel?<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Alfred Bernhard Nobel (1833-1896) was a Swedish chemist, engineer, inventor, businessman, and philanthropist.
