Once considered nocturnal, a radio-tracking study showed them to be <strong>diurnal and crepuscular.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>These are <strong>polygynous <\/strong>(mating with multiple females) with <strong>no breeding season.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Habitat:<\/strong> This cat is known to occur across a wide range of habitats, including dry <strong>deciduous forests, subtropical evergreen forests<\/strong>, tropical rainforests, temperate and sub-alpine forests, and at elevations ranging from 0 m to 3,738 m.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Distribution:<\/strong> The species occurs in <strong>Southeast Asia<\/strong>, from Nepal and Tibet to Southern China, Sumatra and India.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Conservation Status:<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>IUCN:<\/strong> Near threatened<\/li>\n<li><strong>CITES:<\/strong> Appendix I<\/li>\n<li><strong>Wildlife (Protection) Act of India, 1972:<\/strong> Schedule 1<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Threats: <\/strong>Habitat destruction that follows deforestation, as well as a decreasing number of ungulate prey.
