{"id":3827,"date":"2023-01-29T06:48:40","date_gmt":"2023-01-29T01:18:40","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=3827"},"modified":"2025-03-26T19:39:49","modified_gmt":"2025-03-26T14:09:49","slug":"nobles-helen-butterfly","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/nobles-helen-butterfly\/","title":{"rendered":"Noble\u2019s Helen Butterfly"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><strong>About Noble\u2019s Helen Butterfly:<\/strong><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>It is a <strong>swallowtail butterfly with a wingspan of 100\u2013120 mm.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>It has an <strong>extra white spot in the dorsum<\/strong> of the forewing.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Scientific name: <\/strong><i><strong>Papilio noblei<\/strong><\/i><\/li>\n<li><strong>Distribution<\/strong>: They are found in <strong>Myanmar<\/strong>, <strong>Yunnan<\/strong>, Hubai (China), <strong>North Thailand<\/strong>, Laos, Cambodia, <strong>Vietnam<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>The species is <strong>known to be very rare<\/strong> in occurrence in its previously known ranges.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><strong>Namdapha National Park:<\/strong><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Location<\/strong>:\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>It lies on the <strong>international border between India and Myanmar<\/strong> (Burma) within Changlang District in the state of <strong>Arunachal Pradesh.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>The Namdapha protected area is <strong>located between Dapha Bum ridge of Mishmi Hills<\/strong>, of North Eastern Himalayas <strong>and Patkai Ranges.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>It lies in close proximity to the <strong>Indo-Myanmar-China trijunction.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>It is the <strong>largest protected region<\/strong> of the <strong>Eastern Himalayan biodiversity hotspot.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>It was declared a<strong> National Park in 1983.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Climate<\/strong>:It falls within the geographical sub-tropical zone and enjoys the <strong>sub-tropical climate.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Biodiversity:\u00a0<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>It is <strong>only park in the World to have the four Feline species of big cat <\/strong>namely the Tiger (Panthera Tigris), Leopard (Panthera Pardus), Snow Leopard (Panthera Uncia) and Clouded Leopard (Neofelis Nebulosa).<\/li>\n<li><strong>Hoolock Gibbons<\/strong> (Hylobates Hoolock), a highly endangered and <strong>only \u2018ape\u2019 species found in India <\/strong>is found in this national park.<\/li>\n<li>The park is also <strong>famous for critically endangered species like the Namdapha flying squirrel.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Flora<\/strong>: <strong>Sapria himalayana, Amentotaxus, Cephalotaxus,<\/strong> Pinus merkusii (Sumatran pine) and Abies delavayi (Delavay&#8217;s Fir) etc.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Fauna<\/strong>: <strong>Snow leopards, clouded leopards<\/strong>, common leopards, tigers,Red Panda,Himalayan bear, dholes, wolves, <strong>Hoolock Gibbo<\/strong>n, hog deer etc.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h3>Q1)\u00a0What is a swallowtail butterfly?<\/h3>\n<p>Swallowtail butterfly, (subfamily Papilioninae), are any of a group of butterflies in the family Papilionidae (order Lepidoptera). The swallowtail butterflies (Papilio) are found worldwide except in the Arctic.
