a NGO), the roots of which were planted at the 1873 Vienna International Meteorological Congress.<\/li>\n<li>Established by the ratification of the WMO Convention on 23 March 1950, WMO became the specialised agency of the UN, responsible for promoting international cooperation on &#8211;\n<ul>\n<li>Meteorology (weather and climate),<\/li>\n<li>Operational hydrology and<\/li>\n<li>Related geophysical sciences.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>The WMO&#8217;s Strategic Plan includes &#8211;\n<ul>\n<li>Disaster risk reduction,<\/li>\n<li>The Global Framework for Climate Services (GFCS),<\/li>\n<li>The WMO Integrated Global Observing System (WIGOS),<\/li>\n<li>Aviation meteorological services,<\/li>\n<li>Polar and high mountain regions,<\/li>\n<li>Capacity development and Governance.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>The Secretariat, headquartered in Geneva, is headed by the Secretary-General and its supreme body is the World Meteorological Congress.<\/li>\n<li>WMO publishes &#8211;
