{"id":3855,"date":"2023-03-07T02:03:35","date_gmt":"2023-03-06T20:33:35","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=3855"},"modified":"2025-03-26T19:49:45","modified_gmt":"2025-03-26T14:19:45","slug":"nallamala-forest","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/nallamala-forest\/","title":{"rendered":"Nallamala Forest"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><strong>About Nallamala Forest:<\/strong><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>It is one of the <strong>largest stretches of undisturbed forest in South India<\/strong>, apart from the Western Ghats.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Location<\/strong>:\n<ul>\n<li>It is <strong>spread over five districts <\/strong>in the Indian states of <strong>Andhra Pradesh and Telangana<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>It is <strong>located in Nallamala Hills<\/strong>, which is a part of the <strong>Eastern Ghats<\/strong>.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>It lies <strong>south of the Krishna river<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>The forest has a <strong>good tiger population<\/strong>, and a <strong>part of the forest belongs to<\/strong> the <strong>Nagarjunsagar-Srisailam Tiger Reserve,<\/strong> the largest tiger reserve in the country.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Climate:<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>It has a <strong>warm to hot climate throughout the year<\/strong>, with <strong>summer especially hot<\/strong> and <strong>winters mostly cool and dry<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>It gets most of its <strong>rain during the South West monsoon<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Vegetation<\/strong>: <strong>Tropical dry deciduous.<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Flora<\/strong>: It harbors <strong>endemic species<\/strong> like <strong>Andrographis nallamalayana<\/strong>, Eriolaena lushingtonii, Crotalaria madurensis var, Dicliptera beddomei and premna hamitonii.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Fauna<\/strong>: It is home to as many as <strong>700 species<\/strong> of animals besides <strong>tigers, leopards<\/strong>, such as <strong>black buck<\/strong>, <strong>wild hog,<\/strong> <strong>peacock<\/strong>, pangolin, Indian Python and King Cobras and several rare bird species.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h3><strong>Q1)\u00a0Where is Nagarjunsagar-Srisailam Tiger Reserve?<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Nagarjunsagar-Srisailam Tiger Reserve is the Largest Tiger Reserve in India. This is spread across Kurnool, prakasham, Guntur, Nalgonda and Mahbub Nagar Districts of Combined Andhra Pradesh.
