


{"id":40083,"date":"2024-03-14T10:34:44","date_gmt":"2024-03-14T05:04:44","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=40083"},"modified":"2025-04-24T22:39:59","modified_gmt":"2025-04-24T17:09:59","slug":"pm-suraj","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/pm-suraj\/","title":{"rendered":"Pradhan Mantri Samajik Utthan and Rozgar Adharit Jankalyan (PM-SURAJ)"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>What\u2019s in today\u2019s article?<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Why in news?<\/li>\n<li>What is Pradhan Mantri Samajik Utthan evam Rozgar Adharit Jankalyan (PM-SURAJ) portal?<\/li>\n<li>What is NAMASTE Scheme?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Why in news?<\/h2>\n<p>PM Modi launched the Pradhan Mantri Samajik Utthan evam Rozgar Adharit Jankalyan (PM-SURAJ) portal for credit support to entrepreneurs from disadvantaged sections of society virtually.<\/p>\n<p>The PM also distributed Ayushman Health Cards, and Personal Protective Equipment to Safai Mitras under the National Action for Mechanised Sanitation Ecosystem (NAMASTE) scheme.<\/p>\n<h2>Pradhan Mantri Samajik Utthan evam Rozgar Adharit Jankalyan (PM-SURAJ) portal<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>About\n<ul>\n<li>The portal will act as a one-stop point where people from disadvantaged sections of society <u>can apply for and monitor the progress<\/u> of all loan and credit schemes already available to them.<\/li>\n<li>This initiative will help in <u>providing financial assistance directly to beneficiaries<\/u>, eliminating middlemen and commissions.<\/li>\n<li>It aims at uplifting the most marginalised segments of society.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Implementing agency: Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment and its departments.<\/li>\n<li>Previous efforts\n<ul>\n<li>To achieve the goal of Viksit Bharat by 2047 , it is necessary to ensure that facilities available to others like gas connection, bank accounts &amp; toilets are available to Dalits, backwards, deprived and tribals.<\/li>\n<li>The Government is making all possible efforts to empower the SC, ST and OBC communities.\n<ul>\n<li>The assistance provided to them by various institutions has been doubled in the last 10 years.<\/li>\n<li>The government has provided almost <u>one lakh 60 thousand crore rupees for the welfare of the SC community this year alone<\/u>.<\/li>\n<li>Other measures include:\n<ul>\n<li>reservation of 27% seats for the OBC in the all-India quota of medical seats,<\/li>\n<li>greater opportunities for OBC students in NEET examinations,<\/li>\n<li>support through the National Overseas Scholarship for underprivileged students pursuing Master and PhD degrees abroad.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Keeping in mind the entrepreneurship among Dalits, the government has launched the <u>Ambedkar Social Innovation and Incubation Mission<\/u>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>NAMASTE (National Action for Mechanised Sanitation Ecosystem) Scheme<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Objective\n<ul>\n<li>To ensure safety and dignity of sanitation workers in urban India as well as providing sustainable livelihood to these workers.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Ministries involved\n<ul>\n<li>It is a joint initiative of the Ministry of Social Justice &amp; Empowerment (MoSJE) and the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Implementing agency\n<ul>\n<li>National Safai Karamchari Financial Development Corporation (NSKFDC)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Coverage\n<ul>\n<li>Five hundred cities (converging with AMRUT cities) will be taken up under this phase of NAMASTE. It will be implemented for the period 2022-26.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Aims\n<ul>\n<li>Zero fatalities in sanitation work in India<\/li>\n<li>All sanitation work is performed by skilled workers<\/li>\n<li>No sanitation workers come in direct contact with human faecal matter<\/li>\n<li>Sanitation workers are collectivized into SHGs and are empowered to run sanitation enterprises<\/li>\n<li>All Sewer and Septic tank sanitation workers (SSWs) have access to alternative livelihoods<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Components of the scheme\n<ul>\n<li>Extending Insurance Scheme Benefits\n<ul>\n<li>These workers and their families will be covered under the Ayushyaman Bharat- Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY).<\/li>\n<li>The premium for AB-PMJAY for those identified SSWs families who are not covered earlier shall be borne under NAMASTE.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Livelihood Assistance\n<ul>\n<li>The Action Plan will promote mechanization and enterprise development.<\/li>\n<li>Identified SSWs and their dependants will be given counselling on available livelihood choices and an opportunity to acquire alternative skills, if they so desire.<\/li>\n<li>An SSW may choose to continue working in the sanitation sector, thereby becoming eligible for receiving capacity building training.<\/li>\n<li>Alternatively, the worker may choose to explore an alternative livelihood option or an entrepreneurial venture.<\/li>\n<li>The identified SSWs and their family members will be extended benefits of all the social security schemes.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Other assistance\n<ul>\n<li>Capital subsidies of up to \u20b95 lakh on sanitation machinery costing up to \u20b915 lakh and interest subsidies on loans.<\/li>\n<li>Interest rates will be capped between 4-6% for the beneficiaries.<\/li>\n<li>The scheme also provides for training the workers in the use of these machines, during which time a stipend of up to \u20b93,000 per month will be provided.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<h3>Q1)\u00a0What is Viksit Bharat 2047?<\/h3>\n<p>The term &#8216;Viksit Bharat&#8217; means &#8216;Developed India&#8217;. Viksit Bharat 2047 represents the government&#8217;s vision to transform the county into a developed entity by its 100th independence in 2047.
