They gave their publishing license to a private company formed by Indian employees.\n<ul>\n<li>BBC is the national broadcaster of the United Kingdom, based at Broadcasting House in London.<\/li>\n<li>The BBC\u2019s India bureau, comprising around 200 people, is its largest operation worldwide outside the United Kingdom.<\/li>\n<li>It began broadcasting in India in May 1940.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>This is the first time BBC has done this anywhere in the world.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>New arrangement:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Under this new arrangement, a private limited company called the <strong>\u201cCollective Newsroom\u201d<\/strong> has been set up by four former BBC employees.<\/li>\n<li>Its India offices will produce all of the India content in seven languages for the BBC\u2019s digital services in Hindi, Gujarati, Marathi, Punjabi, Tamil, and Telugu.<\/li>\n<li>The BBC is learnt to have applied to the Indian government for a 26% stake in this private limited company.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Restructuring due to new FDI Rules<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>The restructuring of the BBC\u2019s India operations was prompted by the new Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) rules that was introduced in 2020.<\/li>\n<li>The new rules imposed a 26% FDI limit in India\u2019s digital media sector.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<h3>Q.1.
