{"id":4081,"date":"2023-01-25T02:48:07","date_gmt":"2023-01-24T21:18:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=4081"},"modified":"2025-03-26T21:30:16","modified_gmt":"2025-03-26T16:00:16","slug":"what-is-the-light-tank-zorawar","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/what-is-the-light-tank-zorawar\/","title":{"rendered":"What is the Light Tank Zorawar?"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><strong>Why in News?<\/strong><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>The Defence Acquisition Council (DAC) of the Defence ministry recently accorded the approval for Acceptance of Necessity (AoN) for purchasing 354 of these tanks through Make in India.\u00a0\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><strong>About Light Tank Zorawar:<\/strong><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>It is an <strong>indigenously designed and developed Light Tank.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Developed by <strong>Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) in collaboration with Larsen &amp; Toubro Limited.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Features<\/strong>:<\/li>\n<li>It is <strong>designed to operate in varying terrain <\/strong>from high altitude areas and marginal terrains to island territories.<\/li>\n<li>It will be <strong>highly transportable<\/strong> for rapid deployment to meet any operational situation.<\/li>\n<li>It will be <strong>equipped with all the modern technologie<\/strong>s such as <strong>Artificial Intelligence<\/strong>, <strong>Drone Integration<\/strong>, a high degree of situational awareness, and <strong>amphibious operation capability.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>It will <strong>weigh less than 25 tonnes<\/strong> with a <strong>high power-to-weight ratio<\/strong> as well as superior firepower and protection.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><strong>Who was Zorawar?<\/strong><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>He was a <strong>military general<\/strong> \u2014 Zorawar Singh Kahluria, and had s<strong>erved under Jammu\u2019s Raja Gulab Singh in the 19th Century.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>He is <strong>honoured for his conquests in the Himalayas<\/strong> including Ladakh, Tibet, Baltistan and Skardu.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h3>Q1)<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>What is a light tank?<\/h3>\n<p>A light tank is one of the classifications of tank design.
