Km<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>It was declared as a <strong>National Park in 1978.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>This is also the <strong>land of \u201cNeelakurinji\u201d,<\/strong> the flower that blooms once in twelve years.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>The <strong>highest peak south of the Himalayas \u2013 The Anamudi (<\/strong>2695 meters) is situated in this park.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Topography<\/strong>:\u00a0 The major part of the park is covered with <strong>rolling grasslands<\/strong>, but several patches of <strong>shola forests are also found<\/strong> in the upper part of the valley.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Flaura<\/strong>:\u00a0<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Important flora includes <strong>Actinodaphne bourdilloni<\/strong>, <strong>Microtropis ramiflora, Pittosporum tetraspermium<\/strong>, Sysygium aronottianum,\u00a0 Chrysopogon Zelanieus, Eupatorium adenophorum, Strobilanthus Kunthianus (<strong>Neela Kurinji)<\/strong>, Eulalia phaeothrix, Tripogen bromodes, Arundinella fuscata, Cyanotis Species etc.<\/li>\n<li>The shola grasslands are exceptionally rich in <strong>balsams and orchids<\/strong> including the long thought extinct variety Brachycorythis wightii.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Fauna<\/strong>:\u00a0<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>29 Species of mammals<\/strong> are found here of which <strong>5 are endemic to the Western Ghats.<\/strong>\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>The <strong>Nilgiri Tahr, Gaur, Sloth Bear, Nilgiri Langur, Tiger, Leopard, Giant Squirrel and wild dog <\/strong>are common.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Half the world population of the endangered Nilgiri Tahr <\/strong>lives here.<\/li>\n<li>140 species of birds of which 10 are unique to the Western Ghats.<\/li>\n<li>The <strong>Atlas moth, the largest of its kind in the world<\/strong> is seen in this Park.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>More than <strong>100 varieties of butterflies and\u00a0 20 species of amphibians<\/strong> are also seen here.\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Nilgiri Tahr:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>It is a <strong>sure-footed ungulate that is endemic to the southern part of Western Ghats.<\/strong>\u00a0<\/li>\n<li><strong>Scientific name: <\/strong><i><strong>Nilgiritragus hylocrius<\/strong><\/i><\/li>\n<li>It is also the <strong>state animal of Tamil Nadu<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li><strong>IUCN Status: \u201c Endangered\u201d<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Wildlife (Protection) Act of India, 1972 : Schedule 1<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h3>Q1)<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>Which is the cimate of Eravikulam National Park?<\/h3>\n<p>The Park receives heavy showers during the southwest (June\/July) and retreating (October\/November) Monsoons and is one of the wettest area of the World. April &amp; May are the hottest months.
