Bharata\u2019s Natyashastra to the Memory of the World (MoW) Register in 2025.<\/p>\n<h2>What is the Memory of the World (MoW) Programme?<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>The\u00a0<strong>MoW Programme<\/strong>\u00a0was launched by\u00a0<strong>UNESCO in 1992<\/strong>\u00a0with the goal of\u00a0<strong>preserving global documentary heritage<\/strong>\u00a0and preventing what it called\u00a0<strong>\u201ccollective amnesia.\u201d<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>It aims to\u00a0<strong>safeguard rare documents<\/strong>, including\u00a0<strong>manuscripts, oral traditions, audio-visual content, and archive materials<\/strong>, of\u00a0<strong>global and universal value<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>According to UNESCO, this\u00a0<strong>documentary heritage should be preserved, protected, and permanently accessible to all<\/strong>, while respecting cultural practices.<\/li>\n<li>The\u00a0<strong>MoW Register<\/strong>\u00a0serves as a\u00a0<strong>global compendium of such heritage<\/strong>, and is\u00a0<strong>updated biennially<\/strong>\u00a0(every two years).<\/li>\n<li>As of 2025, the Register contains\u00a0<strong>570 entries<\/strong>, including:\n<ul>\n<li>The\u00a0<strong>Mahavamsa<\/strong>\u00a0(Sri Lanka\u2019s ancient chronicle),<\/li>\n<li><strong>Shaiva Siddhanta manuscripts<\/strong>\u00a0(India),<\/li>\n<li><strong>Auschwitz trial recordings<\/strong>\u00a0(Germany),<\/li>\n<li>And the\u00a0<strong>March 7, 1971 speech of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman<\/strong>\u00a0(Bangladesh).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>India\u2019s Contributions to the MoW Register<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>India has made\u00a0<strong>13 contributions<\/strong>, including\u00a0<strong>two joint submissions<\/strong>:\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Rig Veda<\/strong>\u00a0(added in 2005),<\/li>\n<li><strong>Works of Abhinavagupta<\/strong>, the Shaivite philosopher (added in 2023),<\/li>\n<li><strong>Archives of the Non-Aligned Movement\u2019s first summit in Belgrade, 1961<\/strong>\u00a0(joint submission),<\/li>\n<li><strong>Dutch East India Company archives<\/strong>\u00a0(joint submission).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>In 2025, two new\u00a0<strong>Indian manuscripts were added<\/strong>, both preserved at the\u00a0<strong>Bhandarkar Oriental Research Institute, Pune<\/strong>:\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Natyashastra<\/strong>\u00a0by\u00a0<strong>Bharata Muni<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Bhagavad Gita<\/strong>, attributed
