{"id":43770,"date":"2025-08-28T10:06:12","date_gmt":"2025-08-28T04:36:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=43770"},"modified":"2025-08-28T13:25:15","modified_gmt":"2025-08-28T07:55:15","slug":"pm-svanidhi-scheme","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/pm-svanidhi-scheme\/","title":{"rendered":"PM Svanidhi Scheme"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><b>PM SVANidhi Scheme Latest News<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Recently, the Union Cabinet has approved the \u201cRestructuring and extension of the lending period beyond 31.12.2024 of Prime Minister Street Vendor\u2019s AtmaNirbhar Nidhi (PM SVANidhi) Scheme\u201d. \u00a0 \u00a0 <\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>About PM SVANidhi Scheme<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>It was initially launched on 1st June 2020<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> to <\/span><b>support street vendors<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> who faced unprecedented hardships during the COVID-19 pandemic.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is implemented jointly by the <\/span><b>Ministry of Housing &amp; Urban Affairs<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (MoHUA) and <\/span><b>Department of Financial Services<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (DFS), with DFS being responsible for facilitating access to loan\/ credit cards through banks\/financial institutions and their ground level functionaries.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><b>Key Facts about the Restructured PM SVANidhi Scheme<\/b><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The scheme\u2019s coverage is being expanded <\/span><b>beyond statutory towns to census towns, peri-urban areas<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> etc..\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The enhanced loan structure includes <\/span><b>first tranche loans increased up to \u20b915,000<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (from \u20b910,000) and second tranche loans increased up to \u20b925,000 (from \u20b920,000), while the third tranche <\/span><b>remains unchanged at \u20b950,000.<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The introduction of <\/span><b>UPI-linked <a href=\"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/rupay-card\/\" target=\"_blank\">RUPAY Credit Card<\/a><\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> would provide <\/span><b>immediate access of credit<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> to the street vendors in order to meet any emergent business and personal requirements.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In order to give boost to digital adoption, the <\/span><b>street vendors can avail cashback incentives upto \u20b91,600<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> on making retail &amp; wholesale transactions.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The scheme also focuses on building the capacity of the street vendors with a focus on <\/span><b>entrepreneurship, financial literacy, digital skills<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, and marketing through convergence.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Standard hygiene<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and food safety training would be conducted for street food vendors, in <\/span><b>partnership with FSSAI.<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In order to ensure holistic welfare &amp; development of the street vendors and their families, <\/span><b>the \u2018SVANidhi se Samriddhi\u2019 component <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">will be further strengthened, through monthly Lok Kalyan Melas.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Significance:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> It envisages the <\/span><b>holistic development of street vendors<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> by offering a reliable source of finance to support business expansion and opportunities for sustainable growth.
