{"id":4465,"date":"2023-02-05T10:25:16","date_gmt":"2023-02-05T04:55:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=4465"},"modified":"2025-03-27T00:31:31","modified_gmt":"2025-03-26T19:01:31","slug":"what-is-national-green-hydrogen-mission","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/what-is-national-green-hydrogen-mission\/","title":{"rendered":"What is National Green Hydrogen Mission?"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><strong>About National Green Hydrogen Mission<\/strong><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>The initial outlay for the Mission will be Rs.19,744 crore, including an outlay of Rs.17,490 crore for the SIGHT programme, Rs.1,466 crore for pilot projects, Rs.400 crore for R&amp;D, and Rs. 388 crores towards other Mission components.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li><strong>Aim:<\/strong> To make India a Global Hub for the production, utilization and export of Green Hydrogen and its derivatives.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Ministry of New and Renewable Energy<\/strong> will formulate the scheme guidelines for implementation of the respective components.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2><strong>What are the components of the scheme?<\/strong><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>\u00a0<strong>The Strategic Interventions for Green Hydrogen Transition Programme (SIGHT)<\/strong>: Under this two distinct financial incentive mechanisms will be provided\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Targeting domestic manufacturing of electrolysers and\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Production of Green Hydrogen\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>The Mission will also support pilot projects in emerging end-use sectors and production pathways.\u00a0\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Regions capable of supporting large-scale production and\/or utilization of Hydrogen will be identified and developed as <strong>Green Hydrogen Hubs.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>A <strong>public-private partnership<\/strong> framework for R&amp;D (Strategic Hydrogen Innovation Partnership \u2013 SHIP) will be facilitated under the Mission.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>A coordinated <strong>skill development programme<\/strong> will also be undertaken under the Mission.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3><strong>What is Green hydrogen?<\/strong><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>It is the gas produced by splitting water into hydrogen and oxygen using an electrolyzer that may be powered by electricity generated from renewable energy sources.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h3><strong>Q1) What is the specialty of the Hydrogen gas?<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Hydrogen has a strategic importance in the pursuit of a low-emission, environment-benign, cleaner and more sustainable energy system.
