{"id":4593,"date":"2025-11-28T11:37:43","date_gmt":"2025-11-28T06:07:43","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=4593"},"modified":"2025-11-28T12:16:49","modified_gmt":"2025-11-28T06:46:49","slug":"etalin-hydroelectric-project","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/etalin-hydroelectric-project\/","title":{"rendered":"Etalin Hydroelectric Project"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><b>Etalin Hydroelectric Project Latest News<\/b><\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Project Affected Peoples Forum (PAPF) of Arunachal Pradesh recently urged NHPC Ltd to reinstate every local worker previously engaged in the Etalin Hydroelectric Project (HEP), following the Centre\u2019s decision to transfer the project from SJVN Limited to NHPC.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>About Etalin Hydroelectric Project<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is a <\/span><b>3,097 MW<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> hydropower project planned on <\/span><b>Dri and Talo rivers<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (<\/span><b>tributaries of the Dibang <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">river) in <\/span><b>Arunachal Pradesh\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/dibang-river\/\" target=\"_blank\">Dibang Valley<\/a>.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is one of the largest hydropower projects proposed in the country in terms of installed capacity.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">EHEP is proposed to be developed as a combination of <\/span><b>two run-of-the-river schemes.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The project is being <\/span><b>executed by NHPC Limited <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">(formerly known as the National Hydroelectric Power Corporation).<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The project will feature<\/span><b> two concrete gravity dams, one on the Dri River <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">and <\/span><b>another on the Talo (Tangon) River, <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">with an underground powerhouse near their confluence close to Etalin village.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The project is expected to generate 12,752 GWh of electricity.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The project area falls under the <\/span><b>\u201crichest bio-geographical province of the Himalayan zone\u201d<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and \u201cone of the <\/span><b>mega biodiversity hotspots<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> of the world\u201d.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\" aria-level=\"1\">The project area is dominated by <b style=\"font-size: inherit;\">indigenous populations<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> belonging to <\/span><b style=\"font-size: inherit;\">Idu-Mishmi tribes.<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Source: <a href=\"https:\/\/nenow.in\/north-east-news\/arunachal-pradesh\/arunachal-etalin-hydroelectric-project-shift-to-nhpc-sparks-demand-for-local-job-restoration.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">NEN<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Etalin Hydroelectric Project is a 3,097 MW hydropower project planned on Arunachal Pradesh\u2019s Dibang Valley.
