{"id":4597,"date":"2023-03-14T02:09:12","date_gmt":"2023-03-13T20:39:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=4597"},"modified":"2025-03-27T01:18:22","modified_gmt":"2025-03-26T19:48:22","slug":"online-gaming","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/online-gaming\/","title":{"rendered":"Online Gaming"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><strong>Gambling:<\/strong><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Gambling has been defined under the Old Law <strong>\u201cPublic Gambling Act 1867\u201d.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>It is the subject of the <strong>\u201cState list\u201d under the 7th Schedule of the constitution.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>The Law Commission in one of its reports recommends allowing gambling in sports.:<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Online Gaming<\/strong><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Online gaming regulated by <strong>Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology<\/strong>but different states have their own laws related to permission within the state.<\/li>\n<li>So far States like Chhattisgarh, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka have been passed laws banning online games.<\/li>\n<li>There is no monitoring body in India till now to control online gaming and it is in \u2018Grey area\u2019.<\/li>\n<li>Online gaming industry revenue in India to exceed $1.5 billion by 2022 and is expected to reach $5 billion by 2025.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3><strong>What are the different types of online gaming?<\/strong><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>e-Sports: <\/strong>These are video games that were played privately or on consoles in video game stores in the 1990s, but are currently played online in a structured manner between professional players, either individually or in teams.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Fantasy sports:<\/strong>These are games in which the player selects a team of real sports players from several teams and earns points based on how well the players perform in real life. For example,<\/li>\n<li><strong>Online casual games:<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>These could be skill-based, where the outcome is heavily impacted by mental or physical skill or chance-based, where the outcome is heavily influenced by some randomised activity, such as rolling a die.<\/li>\n<li>A game of chance may be considered as gambling if players bet money or anything of monetary value.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h3><strong>Q1) What is the Concurrent List of the Seventh Schedule?<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>The Concurrent List is a list of 52 items given in the Seventh Schedule to the Constitution of India.
