as\u00a0<strong>white hydrogen<\/strong>, refers to\u00a0<strong>naturally occurring molecular hydrogen<\/strong>\u00a0in the Earth\u2019s crust, unlike industrially produced hydrogen.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>How is Natural Hydrogen Formed?<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>It is generated through\u00a0<strong>geological processes<\/strong>, primarily:\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Serpentinisation<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 a reaction between\u00a0<strong>water and iron-rich rocks<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Radiolysis<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 breakdown of\u00a0<strong>water molecules by radioactive rocks<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Decomposition of organic matter<\/strong>\u00a0in deep geological formations.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Why is Natural Hydrogen Important?<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Natural hydrogen is a clean energy source<\/strong>\u00a0that, if harvested sustainably, can\u00a0<strong>significantly reduce carbon emissions<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>It can provide a\u00a0<strong>low-cost and low-emission alternative<\/strong>\u00a0to conventional hydrogen sources like\u00a0<strong>grey hydrogen<\/strong>\u00a0(from natural gas) and\u00a0<strong>green hydrogen<\/strong>\u00a0(from renewable electricity).<\/li>\n<li>The\u00a0<strong>cost of natural hydrogen extraction<\/strong>\u00a0may fall to around\u00a0<strong>$1\/kg or less<\/strong>, which is\u00a0<strong>lower than current green hydrogen production costs<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Natural hydrogen is typically associated with\u00a0<strong>tectonically active regions<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>ultramafic and basaltic rocks<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>ophiolite complexes<\/strong>, and\u00a0<strong>hydrothermal systems<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>In\u00a0<strong>India<\/strong>, potential-rich regions include:\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Cratonic belts<\/strong>\u00a0(e.g.,\u00a0<strong>Dharwar<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Singhbhum<\/strong>)<\/li>\n<li><strong>Sedimentary
