In this phenomenon:\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Warm air ascends the mountain slope<\/strong>\u00a0and expands due to\u00a0<strong>lower atmospheric pressure at higher altitudes<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>As it\u00a0<strong>expands and cools<\/strong>, the air\u00a0<strong>releases its moisture<\/strong>\u00a0in the form of precipitation.<\/li>\n<li>When\u00a0<strong>large volumes of warm, moist air<\/strong>\u00a0keep rising and accumulating moisture without releasing it, it can lead to a\u00a0<strong>sudden, violent downpour<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Because of their\u00a0<strong>localised nature<\/strong>, cloudbursts are\u00a0<strong>difficult to forecast<\/strong>\u00a0and can\u00a0<strong>overwhelm drainage systems<\/strong>, resulting in\u00a0<strong>flash floods<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0<strong>landslides<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>What is a Flash Flood?<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>A\u00a0<strong>flash flood<\/strong>\u00a0is a\u00a0<strong>sudden and rapid inundation<\/strong>\u00a0that occurs when\u00a0<strong>excessive rainwater<\/strong>\u00a0enters\u00a0<strong>streams, drains, or rivers<\/strong>, often overwhelming the natural or built drainage capacity.<\/li>\n<li>These are more frequent in\u00a0<strong>mountainous regions<\/strong>\u00a0where the\u00a0<strong>rocky terrain absorbs little water<\/strong>, causing more\u00a0<strong>surface runoff<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Unlike\u00a0<strong>riverine floods<\/strong>\u00a0in plains that cause long-term property damage,\u00a0<strong>flash floods tend to be more deadly<\/strong>, often catching people off guard and leading to\u00a0<strong>loss of life<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>What is a Landslide?<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>A\u00a0<strong>landslide<\/strong>\u00a0refers to the\u00a0<strong>movement of rock, debris, or earth down a slope<\/strong>, typically triggered when the\u00a0<strong>force of gravity<\/strong>\u00a0exceeds the\u00a0<strong>resisting strength<\/strong>\u00a0of the slope.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Heavy rainfall<\/strong>\u00a0plays a critical role in causing landslides by:\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Increasing the weight<\/strong>\u00a0of the slope material.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Reducing cohesion and friction<\/strong>, which makes it easier for soil and rocks to slide.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Water infiltration<\/strong>\u00a0from intense rain\u00a0<strong>destabilises the slope<\/strong>, making landslides more likely.<\/li>\n<li>Landslides can:\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Crush living beings<\/strong>\u00a0under debris.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Disrupt roads and transportation<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Block
