Renewable Energy launched the Green Hydrogen Certification Portal of India (GHCI).<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>About Green Hydrogen Certification Scheme<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It was launched by the <\/span><b>Ministry of New and Renewable Energy<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (MNRE), Government of India, under the <\/span><b>National Green Hydrogen Mission.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It aims to <\/span><b>promote the production and use of Green Hydrogen<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> , which is generated from renewable energy sources.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Objective:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> It is designed to facilitate the development of a\u00a0 market in India, ensuring that hydrogen produced is genuinely green and contributes to reducing carbon emissions.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><b>Features of Green Hydrogen Certification Scheme<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Green Hydrogen standard<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">: Hydrogen can be officially recognized as \u201cgreen\u201d only if its non-biogenic greenhouse gas emissions <\/span><b>do not exceed 2 kg of CO\u2082 equivalent (CO\u2082e)\/kg of hydrogen<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, averaged <\/span><b>over 12 months.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Eligible pathways:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Eligible Hydrogen Production Pathways include <\/span><b>Electrolysis and Conversion of Biomass.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Producers must appoint <\/span><b>Accredited Carbon Verification<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (ACV) agencies, recognized by the <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/bureau-of-energy-efficiency\/\" target=\"_blank\">Bureau of Energy Efficiency<\/a> <\/strong>,for independent verification.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The GHCI operates with four types of certificates\u2014<\/span><b>Concept Certificate, Facility-Level Certificate, Provisional Certificate, and Final Certificate.\u00a0<\/b>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Concept and Facility-Level certificates focus on design and operational readiness, while Provisional and Final certificates evaluate actual emissions based on production data.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Final certificates are mandatory for facilities benefiting from government incentives or intending to sell hydrogen domestically.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The certification also enables producers to <\/span><b>access carbon credits under the Carbon Credit Trading Scheme<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (CCTS), subject to additional compliance requirements.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Source: <\/b><strong><a
