recovering stolen and lost mobile phones through the Central Equipment Identity Register (CEIR) portal.<\/p>\n<h2>About Central Equipment Identity Register<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>It was\u00a0<strong>developed by the Department of Telecommunications (DoT),<\/strong>\u00a0Ministry of Communications, to track lost or stolen mobile phones.<\/li>\n<li>It acts as a\u00a0<strong>central database of all the mobile phones<\/strong>\u00a0that are<strong>\u00a0used and registered in India.<\/strong>\u00a0It\u00a0<strong>contains all the\u00a0<\/strong>International Mobile Equipment Identity\u00a0<strong>(IMEI)\u00a0<\/strong>or Electronic Serial Number (ESN).\u00a0\n<ul>\n<li><strong>IMEI\u00a0<\/strong>is a\u00a0<strong>15-digit unique number attached to all the handsets.<\/strong>\u00a0These numbers are\u00a0<strong>attached to the registered service provider.\u00a0<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>The\u00a0<strong>user can track the devices by providing<\/strong>\u00a0the required information requested on the portal along with the\u00a0<strong>IMEI and FIR copy.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>The CEIR shares a wide platform that\u00a0<strong>supports
