Progressive, Innovative, and Collaborative Interventions for Export Development (SPICED) is an\u00a0<strong>initiative of the Spices Board,<\/strong>\u00a0under the<strong>\u00a0Ministry of Commerce and Industry.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>The scheme\u00a0<strong>offers financial assistance\u00a0<\/strong>across various components, aiming to enhance sustainability, foster innovation, and\u00a0<strong>promote export development<\/strong>\u00a0in the Indian spices sector.<\/li>\n<li>The scheme aims to\u00a0<strong>enhance\u00a0<\/strong>the\u00a0<strong>productivity of small and large cardamom,<\/strong>\u00a0improve the<strong>\u00a0quality of post-harvest processes,<\/strong>\u00a0and encourage the production and\u00a0<strong>export of value-added, GI-tagged, and organic spices.\u00a0<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>It is also focused on<strong>\u00a0enabling compliance with global\u00a0<\/strong>food safety and phytosanitary\u00a0<strong>standards\u00a0<\/strong>and boosting the capacity of stakeholders across the value chain.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>SPICED Scheme Features<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>The scheme offers<strong>\u00a0support for<\/strong>\u00a0activities such as replanting and rejuvenation of\u00a0<strong>cardamom plantations<\/strong>, development of\u00a0<strong>water resources<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>micro-irrigation,\u00a0<\/strong>promotion of\u00a0<strong>organic farming,<\/strong>\u00a0and expansion of good agricultural practices (GAP).\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>In addition, it\u00a0<strong>supports\u00a0<\/strong>the\u00a0<strong>installation of improved post-harvest infrastructure,\u00a0<\/strong>such as modern dryers, slicers, dehullers, and grading machines to ensure superior product quality.<\/li>\n<li>The scheme provides\u00a0<strong>financial assistance to farmers and Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs)<\/strong>\u00a0to\u00a0<strong>procure essential post-harvest machines\u00a0<\/strong>such as spice polishers, turmeric boilers, mint distillation units, and threshing machines.<\/li>\n<li>The scheme further supports the\u00a0<strong>creation of Spice Incubation Centres<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0<strong>promotes entrepreneurship<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0<strong>product development initiatives<\/strong>\u00a0aimed at enhancing market access and branding\u00a0<strong>for startups and micro, small, and medium farmers, SHGs, and FPOs with the latest technical\u00a0<\/strong>know-how, best\u00a0<strong>practices<\/strong>, and market intelligence.<\/li>\n<li>In export development and promotion, the scheme\u00a0<strong>assists in participating in international trade fairs<\/strong>, buyer-seller meets, and<strong>\u00a0other market linkage programs.\u00a0<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>While exporters with a valid Certificate of Registration as Exporter of Spices (CRES) are eligible for assistance under these programs,\u00a0<strong>preference<\/strong>\u00a0will be given\u00a0<strong>to first-time
