


{"id":47258,"date":"2025-05-10T11:00:15","date_gmt":"2025-05-10T05:30:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=47258"},"modified":"2025-05-29T12:13:17","modified_gmt":"2025-05-29T06:43:17","slug":"pakal-dul-hydropower-project","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/pakal-dul-hydropower-project\/","title":{"rendered":"Pakal Dul Hydropower Project"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>Pakal Dul Hydropower Project Latest News<\/h2>\n<p>The Indian government has fast-tracked approval for the electricity transmission line of the 1,000 MW Pakal Dul hydropower project in Jammu and Kashmir\u2019s Kishtwar district.<\/p>\n<h2>About Pakal Dul Hydropower Project<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>It is a\u00a0<strong>1 GW run-of-the-river scheme<\/strong>\u00a0hydroelectric project (HEP) under construction on\u00a0<strong>the Marusudar River,<\/strong>\u00a0a\u00a0<strong>tributary of the Chenab River in<\/strong>\u00a0the Kishtwar district of\u00a0<strong>Jammu and Kashmir.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>It comprises a<strong>\u00a0167 m-high concrete-face rockfill dam,<\/strong>\u00a0a 157 m-long, 20.2 m-wide, and 49 m-high\u00a0<strong>underground powerhouse,<\/strong>\u00a0a 123.6 m-long, 16 m-wide, and 13.1 m-high transformer cabin, and a rockfill impervious core cofferdam.<\/li>\n<li>The underground powerhouse will be equipped with four 250 MW Francis turbine units operating at a net head of 397.3m.<\/li>\n<li>It is anticipated to produce around 3,330 million units of energy a year.<\/li>\n<li>It is being\u00a0<strong>constructed by Chenab Valley Power Projects [P] Ltd<\/strong>. (CVPPL), a\u00a0<strong>joint venture\u00a0<\/strong>company\u00a0<strong>of National Hydroelectric Power Corporation<\/strong>\u00a0(NHPC Limited) and<strong>\u00a0Jammu &amp; Kashmir State Power Development Corporation Ltd (JKSPDC).<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>JKSPDC holds a 49% stake in CVPPL while NHPC and PTC India hold 49% and 2%, respectively.<\/li>\n<li>During the first ten years of operation, the state of J&amp;K will receive 12% free power from the project, in addition to waiving water usage charges.
