{"id":47596,"date":"2026-05-30T12:32:06","date_gmt":"2026-05-30T07:02:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=47596"},"modified":"2026-05-30T14:19:56","modified_gmt":"2026-05-30T08:49:56","slug":"border-security-force-bsf","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/border-security-force-bsf\/","title":{"rendered":"Border Security Force"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><b>Border Security Force Latest News<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Union Home Minister has said that the government is considering assigning additional areas of responsibility to the Border Security Force (BSF) to make it more effective in dealing with emerging security challenges.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>About Border Security Force<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is one of the seven <\/span><b>Central Armed Police Forces<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (CSPFs) of the Union of India under the administrative control of the <strong>Ministry of Home Affairs.\u00a0<\/strong><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It was raised in <\/span><b>the wake of the 1965 War on 1 December 1965.<\/b><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is meant to <\/span><b>secure India\u2019s borders<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> with its neighbouring nations and is empowered to arrest, search and seize under several laws.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Currently, BSF is deployed at the <\/span><b>Indo-Pakistan International Border,<\/b> <b>the Indo-Bangladesh International Border<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, and <\/span><b>Line of Control<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (LoC) along with the Indian Army, and in Anti-Naxal Operations.<\/span><\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\"><b>Role:\u00a0<\/b>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The primary role of BSF is to <\/span><b>protect the country\u2019s land borders<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> during peacetime and prevent transnational crime.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">They help the Indian Army during wartime as they are familiar with local people and topography.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Motto:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> The motto of BSF, \u201c<\/span><b>DUTY UNTO DEATH\u201d is<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> placed at the bottom.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It has a <\/span><b>separate camel and dog wing<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> that lets them expand their reach into varied terrain such as the India-Pakistan border in the Rann of Kutch.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">BSF is the only CAPF to have its <\/span><b>own Air Wing, Marine Wing, and artillery regiments<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, which support the General Duty Battalions in their operations.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Powers: <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It has been given powers <\/span><b>of arrest, search, and seizure under various Acts<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. \u201cThese Acts include Passport Act 1967, Passport Act (Entry into India) 1920, Customs Act, NDPS Act and Arms Act.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The head of the BSF is known as the <\/span><b>Director General<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (DG), and he should be an officer from Indian Police Services (IPS).<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>\u00a0Source:<\/b> <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/newsonair.gov.in\/hm-amit-shah-says-eradicating-illegal-immigration-vital-to-protect-nations-demography\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">News On Air<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Border Security Force is one of the seven Central Armed Police Forces (CSPFs) of the Union of India under the administrative control of the Ministry of Home Affairs.
