{"id":47608,"date":"2025-05-11T12:00:35","date_gmt":"2025-05-11T06:30:35","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=47608"},"modified":"2025-05-29T12:28:55","modified_gmt":"2025-05-29T06:58:55","slug":"tapti-basin-mega-recharge-project-tbmrp","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/tapti-basin-mega-recharge-project-tbmrp\/","title":{"rendered":"Tapti Basin Mega Recharge Project (TBMRP)"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>Tapti Basin Mega Recharge Project Latest News<\/h2>\n<p>The Indian government has fast-tracked approval for the electricity transmission line of the 1,000 MW Pakal Dul hydropower project in Jammu and Kashmir\u2019s Kishtwar district.<\/p>\n<h2>About Tapti Basin Mega Recharge Project<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>The\u00a0<strong>Tapti River<\/strong>\u00a0(called Tapi in Maharashtra)\u00a0<strong>originates in Madhya Pradesh\u2019<\/strong>s Betul district and\u00a0<strong>flows through parts of Maharashtra.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>TBMRP is a<strong>\u00a0joint project of Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>It is the\u00a0<strong>world\u2019s largest groundwater recharge initiative.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>The project aims to<strong>\u00a0channelise adequate water to northeastern Maharashtra,<\/strong>\u00a0including\u00a0<strong>Nagpur, for drinking purposes<\/strong>, and\u00a0<strong>to southern Madhya Pradesh,<\/strong>\u00a0particularly the Chhindwara district,\u00a0<strong>for irrigation.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>The total water usage of the Tapti Basin Mega Recharge Project will be 31.13 thousand million cubic feet (TMC), of which 11.76 TMC has been allocated to Madhya Pradesh and 19.36 TMC to Maharashtra.<\/li>\n<li>It will facilitate irrigation of 1,23,082 hectares of land in MP and 2,34,706 hectares in Maharashtra.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Under the Project,\u00a0<strong>four water structures are proposed:<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Low diversion weir at Kharia Gutighat dam site:\u00a0<\/strong>The weir is proposed at Khalwa tehsil of Khandwa district in MP and Amravati tehsil of Maharashtra\u00a0<strong>on the border of both states<\/strong>\u00a0with 8.31 TMC capacity.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Right bank canal phase I:\u00a0<\/strong>A 221-km-long canal is proposed from the right bank of the proposed Kharia Gutighat weir, with 110 km in MP. The canal will irrigate over 55,000 hectares of area in MP.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Left bank canal phase I:<\/strong>\u00a0A 135.64-km-long canal is proposed from the left bank of the proposed Kharia Gutighat weir, with 100.42 km in MP.
