{"id":48037,"date":"2026-05-21T11:26:38","date_gmt":"2026-05-21T05:56:38","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=48037"},"modified":"2026-05-21T13:47:29","modified_gmt":"2026-05-21T08:17:29","slug":"asian-productivity-organisation-apo","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/asian-productivity-organisation-apo\/","title":{"rendered":"Asian Productivity Organization"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><b>Asian Productivity Organization Latest News<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The 68th Session of the Asian Productivity Organization (APO) Governing Body is being hosted by the Government of India in New Delhi.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>About Asian Productivity Organization<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is an <\/span><b>intergovernmental organization<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> which was established in 1961.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The APO is committed to enhancing <\/span><b>productivity for sustainable socioeconomic development<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> through mutual cooperation and knowledge sharing.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">APO membership is open to countries in Asia and the Pacific that are members of the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UN ESCAP).\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li><b>Members:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> It comprises <\/span><b>21 member economies<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> from the <\/span><b><a href=\"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/upsc-exam\/indo-pacific-region\/\" target=\"_blank\">Asia-Pacific region<\/a>.<\/b>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Bangladesh, Cambodia, Republic of China, Fiji, Hong Kong, <\/span><b>India, Indonesia<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, Islamic Republic of Iran, Japan, Republic of Korea, Lao PDR, Malaysia, Mongolia, Nepal, Pakistan, Philippines, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Thailand, T\u00fcrkiye, and Vietnam.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">India is a <\/span><b>founding member of APO.<\/b><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">These countries\/economies support each other in their productivity drives in a spirit of mutual cooperation and coordinate with the APO through the designated <\/span><b>national productivity organizations (NPOs).<\/b>\n<ul>\n<li><b>National Productivity Council<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (NPC) under the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, is the <\/span><b>designated NPO for India.<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><b>Headquarters:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Tokyo, Japan<\/span><\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\"><b>Organisational Structure<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">APO is composed of the <\/span><b>governing body,<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> the NPOs, and the secretariat, which is headed by a secretary-general.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The <\/span><b>Governing Body<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> is the APO\u2019s <\/span><b>highest decision-making authority<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and <\/span><b>meets annually<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> to set the organisation\u2019s strategic direction, approve major proposals, and review Secretariat performance.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Source: <\/b><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pib.gov.in\/PressReleasePage.aspx?PRID=2263106&amp;reg=3&amp;lang=1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">PIB<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Asian Productivity Organization is an intergovernmental organization which was established in 1961.
