{"id":48354,"date":"2026-07-30T12:35:45","date_gmt":"2026-07-30T07:05:45","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=48354"},"modified":"2026-07-30T13:04:17","modified_gmt":"2026-07-30T07:34:17","slug":"e-zero-fir-initiative","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/e-zero-fir-initiative\/","title":{"rendered":"e-Zero FIR System"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><b>e-Zero FIR System Latest News<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Recently, the Minister of State for Home informed that the government has introduced the system of registering e-Zero FIRs in cybercrime cases across eighteen states and Union Territories.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>About e-Zero FIR System<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is a <\/span><b>technology-based platform<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> that enables the automated registration of Zero FIRs for value cyber financial crimes.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is a new mechanism where <\/span><b>financial cybercrime complaints<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> involving <\/span><b>fraud above \u20b910 lakh<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> are automatically converted into FIRs if <\/span><b>reported via the 1930<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> helpline or the <\/span><b>National Cybercrime Reporting Portal<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (NCRP).<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Statutory Backing:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> It is enabled under <\/span><b>Section 173<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> of the <\/span><b>Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), 2023.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Nodal Body:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> It is led by the <\/span><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/indian-cyber-crime-coordination-centre-i4c\/\" target=\"_blank\">Indian Cybercrime Coordination Centre<\/a><\/strong><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/indian-cyber-crime-coordination-centre-i4c\/\" target=\"_blank\"> (I4C)<\/a><\/strong>, Ministry of Home Affairs.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><b>How Does the System Work?<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Complaints of financial <\/span><b>cybercrime losses above \u20b910 lakh<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, once filed through 1930 or NCRP, will automatically trigger a Zero FIR at the e-Crime Police Station.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This Zero FIR is immediately routed to the <\/span><b>relevant territorial cybercrime police station<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, based on the complainant\u2019s location.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Victims are required to visit the <\/span><b>cybercrime police station within 3 days<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> to get the Zero <\/span><b>FIR converted into a regular FIR.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Integration of Key Platforms<\/b>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The process involves integration of: I4C\u2019s <\/span><b>National Cybercrime Reporting Portal<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (NCRP), and National Crime Records Bureau\u2019s (NCRB) <\/span><b>Crime and Criminal Tracking Network &amp; Systems (CCTNS).<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This interlinking of databases facilitates real-time processing, auto-routing, and nationwide interoperability for cybercrime cases.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Source:<\/b> <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/newsonair.gov.in\/government-introduces-e-zero-fir-system-for-cybercrime-cases-in-18-states-and-uts\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">News On Air<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>e-Zero FIR System is a technology-based platform that enables the automated registration of Zero FIRs for value cyber financial crimes.
