However, this was not because of extra snowfall.<\/li>\n<li>Its advance &#8220;was quite likely due to the\u00a0<strong>pre-loading with rockfalls<\/strong>\u00a0from this mountain, which has finally collapsed.<\/li>\n<li>Glaciologists have repeatedly expressed concerns about a thaw in recent years, attributed in\u00a0<strong>large part to global warming,<\/strong>\u00a0that has accelerated the retreat of glaciers in Switzerland.<\/li>\n<li>Switzerland, a landlocked Alpine country has\u00a0<strong>the most glaciers<\/strong>\u00a0of any\u00a0<strong>country in Europe<\/strong>, and saw 4% of its total glacier volume disappear in 2023.
