Commission (KVIC), under the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME), recently disbursed \u20b9300 crore in margin money subsidy to 8,794 beneficiaries under the Prime Minister\u2019s Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP).<\/p>\n<h2>About Prime Minister&#8217;s Employment Generation Programme\u00a0<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Launched in August\u00a0<strong>2008<\/strong>, PMEGP is a\u00a0<strong>credit-linked subsidy scheme<\/strong>\u00a0administered by the\u00a0<strong>Ministry of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSME).\u00a0<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>It is a\u00a0<strong>central sector scheme.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>PMEGP aims to\u00a0<strong>generate employment opportunities<\/strong>\u00a0through the\u00a0<strong>establishment of micro-enterprises in the non-farm sector for rural as well as urban areas.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Prime Minister&#8217;s Employment Generation Programme Implementing Agency<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>The scheme is implemented by the\u00a0<strong>Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC)\u00a0<\/strong>functioning as the nodal agency\u00a0<strong>at the national level.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>At the state level, the scheme is implemented through State KVIC Directorates, State Khadi and Village Industries Boards (KVIBs), District Industries Centres (DICs), and banks.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Prime Minister&#8217;s Employment Generation Programme Benefits<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Bank-financed subsidy program for setting up new micro-enterprises in the\u00a0<strong>non-farm sector.\u00a0<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Margin money subsidy on bank loans\u00a0<\/strong>ranges from\u00a0<strong>15% to 35% for projects up to Rs. 50 Lakh in manufacturing and Rs. 20 Lakh in the service sector.\u00a0<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>The\u00a0<strong>remaining portion<\/strong>\u00a0of the cost\u00a0<strong>can be provided\u00a0<\/strong>by the lending institution<strong>\u00a0as a regular loan.\u00a0<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>For beneficiaries belonging to special categories<\/strong>\u00a0such as SC\/ST\/WomenPH\/ Minorities\/Ex-Servicemen\/NER, the\u00a0<strong>margin money subsidy is 35% in rural areas and 25% in urban areas.\u00a0<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Prime Minister&#8217;s Employment Generation Programme Eligibility<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Any\u00a0<strong>individual above 18 year<\/strong>s of age is eligible.<\/li>\n<li>There will be\u00a0<strong>no income ceiling<\/strong>\u00a0for assistance for setting up projects under PMEGP.<\/li>\n<li>Beneficiaries should possess\u00a0<strong>at least an VIII standard<\/strong>\u00a0pass educational qualification\u00a0<strong>for setting up of projects costing above Rs.10 lakh in the manufacturing sector\u00a0<\/strong>and a<strong>bove Rs. 5 lakh in the business\/service sector.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Self Help Groups<\/strong>\u00a0(including those belonging to BPL provided that they have not availed benefits under any other Scheme),\u00a0<strong>institutions\u00a0<\/strong>registered\u00a0<strong>under the Societies Registration Act<\/strong>, 1860,\u00a0<strong>Production Co-operative Societies,<\/strong>\u00a0and,\u00a0<strong>Charitable Trusts\u00a0<\/strong>are\u00a0<strong>also eligible<\/strong>\u00a0for assistance under PMEGP.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Existing units<\/strong>\u00a0that have\u00a0<strong>already availed government subsidy<\/strong>\u00a0under any other scheme of the Government of India or State Government
