In severe cases, they can significantly impact <\/span><b>communication, daily functioning, and quality of life.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Tics are broadly <\/span><b>classified as simple or complex<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Simple motor tics<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> involve a single muscle group and include eye blinking, facial grimacing, shoulder shrugging, and head jerking.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Simple vocal tics<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> include throat-clearing, sniffing, barking, or grunting.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Complex motor tics<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> involve coordinated patterns and may include touching objects, hopping, or bending.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Complex vocal tics<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> may involve repeating one\u2019s own or others\u2019 words (echolalia), or, in rare cases, using obscene language (coprolalia).<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Tics often <\/span><b>worsen with stress or excitement<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and may improve when the person is calm and focused.
